I was doing a more aggressive playstyle that caters to Bestia's character, where given the choice I decided to take out everyone outside of battle like the Triarchus, Theophilus or Zenobia, captured enemies and the like. That is what I believe constitutes as takedown for this achievement. So we're talking each type of melee weapon. Not the usables/throwables.
You said you've tried this but you left out the staff.
There's another piece of information that I can give but take it with a grain of salt because I'm not entirely sure; if you order one of your praetorians to do the takedown it may still count towards the achievement as it was by your order.
I also have a hunch that you don't necessarily have to complete this achievement with one character/one playthrough.
My first game was gladiator on normal difficulty, Ironman mode, for achievement.
Now I have started a new game in the crazy mode, and I have finished the first chapter. Every time you reply to me, it is very helpful to me. Thank you for all the information you provided, I will continue to play and try.
