For Veles, I always go Assassin primarily and a little duelist. Hard to say as there's good talents throughout them all.
Sagittarius I find to be a little boring as the talents go. You can go the left side for a passive build that focuses on overwatching effects, though I personally go the middle tree and make melee/ranged hybrids. I don't use them much though, its a rather boring class imo.
Synaros I build half Medic/Flagbearer. For random Praetorians though I typically build Destroyer for damage and a few points in medic for Cure and the associated heal.
many people said that ability is so powerful that a character alone can win the game
Veles getting the +50% dmg to targets at full health + 10% per kill + a triarius +20% buff + lone wolf is pretty hilarious. Especially since they get lots of free action abilities plus a focus cost that gives another action. Paired with a triarius extra action and CD reset its a monster.
Sagittarius using barrage plus versatile is quite powerful. You can kill something with a melee hit to pop versatile and then throw a rock as its a free action to keep your barrage going.
Julia's armor specifically has a 20% chance to refund tactical items. Paired with a throwing dagger that throws 3 for 3 20% chances is really powerful. You can essentially use a tactical item with her every turn.
Haven't found a good place for the gladiator class. It has some very powerful abilities, but if you play right you don't need them and it feels pretty weak. Maybe I'm playing it wrong.
-Princeps: has the best weapon skills, therefore the best way to build a Princeps is to go heavy on the passive skills overall, and only take the best active abilites. The Veteran tree is the best one for that, and once you have taken everything worthwile in it, you can grab a few things in the other two. Besides that, the main role of a Princeps is to hold the line with Defensive strike and Hunker down, tie up ranged enemies with Opportunist and use War cry in a decisive way in order to stun a large group of enemies and allow a Destroyer Triarus to chainkill them all.
Weapon: swords, in order to get the combo skill Defensive strike.
Shield: Hunker down is mandatory.
The third weapon skill can be anything you like, there's a lot of good options. Pay attention to the shield bash attacks, they tend to do more damage than main weapons once you get the relevant passives.
Build:
Veteran tree
Passive: Nimble 2 / Opportunist 2 / Battering ram 2 / Immovable 1
Active: War cry + Stand fast or Knockdown. I prefer Stand fast overall because I use the unarmed skill Tackle to emulate Knockdown, but arguably Knockdown makes your early game a bit easier.
After that, you can take pretty much anything you want in the other two trees.
-Veles: the nerf of Reaper and the loss of the passive Reliable has pretty much killed the Brawler build for me, therefore the best Veles build is to go mainly Assassin then Duelist, but without forgetting to put 1 point in Tactical advance and Born ready first.
Weapons: a dagger in the offhand is mandatory, besides that you can go with anything you want in the main hand. I tend to use another dagger in order to get more Focus. For weapon skills, there's a lot of good options, but early on, you should go for One-two in order to guarantee that you will get enough Focus after an attack to use Tactical advance and disengage safely.
Build:
Brawler tree
Active : Tactical advance 1. This is one of the best Veles skill and is more or less the core of his strategy. It's purpose is to allow you to do hit and run tactics and never stay engaged with an enemy, and to flank with ease in order to avoid doing glancing blows with all your character. Bestia should always take this at level 2, and use this over Shiv during the early game.
Assassin tree:
Passive: Lone wolf 1 / Assassinate 1 / Focus master 2 / First strike 1
Active: Sneak attack / Marathon / Rush
Duelist tree:
Passive: Born ready 2 / Bloodthirsty 2 / Slippery 1
Active : Shiv 1 / Dodge 1
Getting an early point in Born ready is very handy, because without focus, you often have to do frontal attacks to start generating Focus, which can fail if you do a glancing blow. Starting a fight with enough focus to use Tactical advance directly makes you much more reliable, but arguably, if you don't play on Ironman, you can disregard that and play a little bit more risky.
Sagittarus: is pretty much a ranged DPS. Overall, Barrage tends to overperform compared to everything else, therefore my build revolves around getting the maximum out of that skill. In other words, rushing Barrage by going Hunter first and then taking the best Sniper skills to complement that. Marksman isn't a bad tree by itself, but sadly it's not very suited to the "metagame" of this game, where it's much better to be proactive than reactive.
Weapon: a bow obviously. For the early game, you can do some Versatile shenanigans by having a melee weapon in your secondary set, but once you get Barrage, you should definitely get a bow in both sets. Since the nerf of Overdrawn shot, there's no mandatory weapon skills, so feel free to experiment and take what you like.
Build: the entire Sagittarus strategy revolves around getting in a good position, activating barrage and then spamming all weapon skills (6 in total with bows in both weapon sets) + active attack skills like Quickshot and Assist. Once everything is in cooldown, have a Triarus use Inspire (with Orator upgrade) to refresh cooldowns and repeat the process. Usually, it's more than enough to obliterate most of the opposition. Therefore:
Hunter tree:
Passive: Versatile 1 / Skirmisher 1 / Pinning shot 3
Active: Quickshot 1 / Lure 1 / Barrage 1
Sniper tree:
Passive : Marksman 2 / Walk your shots 3 / Seize ground 1
Active : Mark target 2 / Assist 1
Calida has a wasted starting point in Marksman, which isn't too much of an issue overall.
Triarus: can be either DPS or support, depending of your build. There's two ways to go here: either Flagbearer + Medic or Destroyer + Medic. Destroyer and Flagbearer don't synergize well because of action economy, so that pairing should be avoided. For Syneros, I go for the support build. The main appeal of a support Triarus is to cast Inspire on a DPS character (usually a Sagittarus), but there's also a lot of other options besides that, mainly heals and buffs.
Weapon: I prefer pikes for the safety granted by the superior reach, but there's some very good unique staves available. Pick whatever you like, it's hard to go wrong here, and overall a good Triarus support don't use his weapon often anyway. Syneros should have a free secondary weapon slot in order to have access to his special healing skill and Aid.
Build:
Flagbearer tree:
Active: War horn 2 / Inspire 1
Passive: Bolstering presence 1 / Orator 1
I find the bottom of the Flagbearer tree a bit lackluster: Ruse is too situational and there's often a better way to spend your action point, while Rousing speech is way overkill when it comes to healing.
Medic tree:
Active: Logistics 2 / Cure 1 /
Passive : Field medic 2 / Good as new 1 / Interference
You will need to spend one more point here in order to get Interference. I tend to take Poisoner because I never have a downed character, but objectively Revive is a better option.
After that, you can take whatever you like, even some Destroyer skills if you want.
