Agreed. That game has wonderfull unique text-based RPG quests. Its more strategy and less RPG or somewhat balanced while Exp Rome is more RPG. But its really interesting and it takes place in Britain like Exp Viking. :)

Unfortunately the storytelling is much weaker than in Exp Rome (from what I saw) and I dont like the basic idea of the game.
Few more tips:
- Black Geyser - izo fantasy CRPG ala Baldurs Gate or Pillars of Eternity:

- Waylanders - half historical Celtic game, half fantasy CRPG but with RWwP combat.

- Drakensang - 3D CRPG with RTwP combat
- Shadowrun series - izo CRPGs with TB combat
Especially the 1st Pathfinder game (Pathfinder: Kingmaker). Waiting for a deeper sale on Pathfinder 2.
The new King Arthur game. Am really enjoying it, but at the moment waiting until early access is over.
A light hearted one is The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk: The Amulet of Chaos. Good fun with plenty of comedy and some fun mechanics.
Now, while a bit away from the core style of Expeditions, if you want a more complete control of your Roman faction and Legios, then I'd be remiss if I didn't suggest the Total War games, Rome Remastered and Rome 2. They are regularly on sale and have huge modding communities. They are not as complex as crusader kings or stellaris or anything like that and focus more on the battles. In Rome 2 there are even some light, VERY light, rpgish mechanics in that you can choose some skills for your generals (they also get ancillaries/companions, but they just boost some stats) and traditions for your legios (and even name them and choose their banner). I cannot recommend them enough.
Age of Decadence is really your choice number one if you don't mind a bit dated graphics. It actually have MORE C&C than Expeditions game and they have much more impact on the game. Much more hardcore too. So can't recommend this game enough. Roman setting too so another point to this game. Game is turn-based.
Pathfinder another good choice - if you didn't played first game choose it to try. It is polished, cost is low and you will understand if you liked it. Plenty of content, quests and epic fantasy, nice companions. Few endings including secret one. No relations to any Roman setting though. And really huge choice of classes, races, traits and character creation AND planning is game in itself. Plus system will require some understanding.
Tyranny will be another good choice since it really have some Roman legion vibe and have much darker setting than any other RPGs. Really liked this one. Is it good... yes. But not so brilliant as Age of Decadence or Pathfinder. More like Pillars of Eternity (good games too) but with darker setting.
Edited to add more;
Bounty Train
Battle Brothers
Kenshi
Legends of Eisenwald
Sands of Salzaar
Star Traders: Frontiers
Star Point Gemini Warlords
Thea 2: The Shattering
Vagrus - The Riven Realms
Wartales
If you found a game on my list to play, all are great games listed here, please leave me an award on this post. Thanks and I hope you found something new to play.
and let's not take away from the expeditions franchise, I've been a fan and supporter of this develop/publishing team since the start. Thank you for this new installment into the roman era, can't wait to play it soon.
