Are these praetorians an easter egg?

Looks like it! They have unique portraits and appear to have some unique speech lines in battles too.

if i remember right they were centurions in Ceasar legions in Gaul
there is a story of these 2 standing side by side against 100 Gauls
those 2 names were also used for characters in the old tv series Rome.

Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus were two common soldiers, no officers at all, and we only know about them, because Cesar mentioned them once in a single text, he never mentioned anyone from the common soldiers at all in his writtings, so that is the reason those two stood out, even if nothing at all is known about them, only, that they were always competing for who killed more and such, were pretty good fighters as well, since that is all Cesar mentioned about them.

Yes I had Vorenus as one of my Centurions, who then promptly died in a siege lol I wasn't aware that they had unique voice lines lol

and yepp the "down to earth" PoV-Characters in the Series Rome from the 2000s, besides the characters in the high politics game like Cesar.

Actually, we know that Lucuis was a son of Hades... you don't want to know what he did to Concord.

Titus is my favorite largely because he stands out from all the other possible recruits. I never saw the rome series.

Titus Pullo didn't live long in my campaign. And i still haven't gotten Lucius Vorenus.
So my dream of having Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus in my party are now over.

Though on the brightside Titus Pullo will be unable to bring upon the fall of the republic thanks to his awful gambling addiction.

Titus is my main "off" tank when I have to do pacification and split missions, I haven't seen Lucius yet but was hoping he was in the game.

As Solomon Kane mentioned, the reason Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus were in the TV show Rome, was because they were the only 2 common soldiers ever mentioned by name in Ceasar's notes. So they made it into the TV show as soldiers who were probably pretty cool. So they made it here too, probably because of the TV show, but could just be the same reason.

It's not clear to me if their perks are random or set, but I found it amusing that in my playthrough, Vorenus got the social perk and I have him lounging all day in the bath (which is so OOC). Titus Pullo meanwhile is one of my finest centuriones.

Yeah I got them too, when read the names I was super happy and have been my praetorians since Lesbos :)

Vorenus has the social perk in mine as well, which gave me a good chuckle given his dour personality on the show.

Would be funny if there's a "find a Roman Eagle" mission in Gaul that you get an achievement for if they're on that mission. :-D
