So...Male or female?
I like to create myself in the game so I want to do female, and I'm hearing and seeing that women are treated differently in the game which is to expected and I don't have a problem with

Question is, Should I create a male character to experience the game as intended if being a woman is considered a different sort of campaign or such? Or is it just flavour text and you get to do all the stuff a male character can do.

I understand that certain characters can't be romanced etc due to gender and thats fine, I'm asking if certain story or gameplay options are closed to females and as so should I chose male to experience the main meat of it and then I can appreciate the way the game has chosen to display females after in another playthrough?

I plan to do both, but will probably start w/ female.

I don't know if it's different beyond the demo, but it feels like the female character gets more content due to people going out of their way to tell you that you can't do things because you're a woman.

If you are interested go female first, you can probably guess how males are treated.

I wonder if that stops in gaul, after a few Roman soldiers get the rear ends handed to them by celtic women warriors.

So they're simply telling you cannot, but you can anyway??

Creating a female character *is* playing the game as intended. They're there for a reason, and I really like how it's handled in game. The only other game that pulled off antique sexism with class and wit is Mount & Blade, but it does mirror the historical record of exceptional women proving themselves to be *extremely* exceptional: Joan of Arc, Helen of Troy, Cleopatra.

Roll with it.

While game first starting with female character in character creator I very much doubt so. You are pseudo-Casesar anyway (poor Kenny).
And playing as a male is very funny how one of your companion is obliviously female but most people can't guess it and even your own character think that "there is something suspicious about this young unbearded lad".
Meanwhile one companion is clearly recognized that fact and says "that seen... lads like this before, don't worry too much about him". So he probably fine with player being female too.
I wonder how your slave being sexist playing out with character being female.

I have no idea how the rest of the game plays out, but there are a couple extra scenes in the demo if you are a woman.

Basically people telling you that you need to keep a low profile because you have ovaries, etc.

Devs have said that it gets more involved later on, so I'm looking forward to that. : )

Are female characters in the game modded in?

No?

Then they're intended to be there, and playing as them is intentional.

Ah, while English isn't my mother language I can recognize that you merely using the phrase "the indended way" and it's derivatives wrong.
Can you play games on steam in the autonomious mode? Yes, you can in most of them with some caveat. It's is designed capability already in the client. Do games on Steam are intended to be played in autonomious mode? No, they are not, even if some players use only this way to play.
Online is the designed way to play, while player playing the game as intended, autonomious is a back-up option.
