Get to the game main menu and press ALT+ENTER, go to Game, Options, Sound and check if music is ON.
If music was already enabled it could be a problem between the game's Vorbis libraries and your codec package (installing a codec package was never a good idea).
Yep - music is set to "ON". I haven't specifically installed an OGG codec, but did install VLC a long time ago, which includes various codecs. I can play OGG files (default VLC, but also works with other media players on my system e.g. Foobar), including the game's 'Track02.ogg" file.
Still no dice with the music playing in game, however.
The music works perfectly with the other version.
Interestingly, when using Steam to launch the game as a custom .exe, there is again no music, so it must be some issue with Steam, this game, and my set up.
