Such a disappointment
Sigh, it is another company trying to cash in on another giant success without realising three fundamental things.

1. What makes said games so successful.
2. What you cannot catch the hype train if you already not running or in other words, if you wake up to massive success if it already happened, the time to make good product in a new genre will be so long that said wave will pass, other imitators will come to market, communities will gather and keep to most favourite titles and lastly, the entire craze might just pass. It was just like with zombie games several years ago. Or with card games. Or with MMOs. Or with modern military shooters. Or with WW2 shooters.
3. You are building game on an IP and with publisher those fanbase might dislike their new product. Somehow developers these days are showing nothing, but open contempt to them. To very people who made who they are today and instead of thanking us and treasuring said relationship, they try to greedly exploit us if not outright to insult and brainwash us like some triple A companies just love to do these days...

Everything you just said is why this game has already failed and its not even out the door. Apex is already heavily losing traction. The only good BR game that has a chance other than pubg and fortnite is SpellBreak. Not only have they introduced a completely new idea, but the game itself is actually ridiculously fantastic and quality and it isnt even in beta yet. This crap stands literally zero chance. It will have a spike of players on release and that will slowly dwindle over the following week or 2 then be dead. This just looks like so many of the other failed BR games all the while offering absolutely NOTHING interesting or new. If the devs are ever reading this, I'm not being salty, neither is OP, gamers understand the gaming market Far more than people who are trained to do so in school. Mark my words, this is already a flop and wont even generate enough income to cover its development cost. All you had to do was make a new PlanetSide. This failed on multiple levels, it sucks to see the probably thousands of man hours go to waste, but your guys should really understand the mind set of players instead of trying to jump in WAY too late as a cash grab.

Indeed, I personally enjoy planetside combat model and would enjoy playing this game as planetside 2 mode in arena is not by itself an unfun experience. My only issue with the game and devs/publishers in regards to planetside franchise is that it was mishandled from a grounds up. From marketing campaign to development. Then when it entered the long haul afterwards, developers shifted priorities towards ♥♥♥♥ nobody had asked for and were not beneficial for long term health of their game. For example, never addressing the fact that all 3 factions are almost identical to each other and instead of trying to fix it, they had released absolute metric ton of faction neutral weapons who took away all the personality from the game. It then got bogged down with various and pointless gimmicks like building in planetside 2 game...while major issues like player flow and huge scale battles generation never had received priority as it needed from the beginning.

Daybreak should listen to the original Planetside Vets and do what Valve did with CSGO. They took the tried and tested formula of CS and updated it. They didn't rip ideas from CoD and BF and came up with cookie cutter dumbed down mechanics so it appealed to the mass market. They kept what made CS special. SOE and Daybreak have just ripped off BF, dumbed down the fighting and left us with this garbage.

REMAKE PLANETSIDE ONE.

You know the game with so much meta vets were still finding new thimngs about the game a decade on.

The combat, albeit buggy is superior in Planetside one. It rewards skill. A decent player can hold his own against multiple attackers. There is so much diversity and non combat roles that can really affect the outcome of battles.

Squandered with PS2's cookie cutter, Battlefield, rip off clone.

Indeed. Planetside 2 went for more casual audience with its mechanics only to discover that this more casual audience is just too casual for such game in general and we got stuck with this awkward product which in neither a battlefield game nor planetside 1.

how is this a BR hype train cash in when you didn't even read the game's description where it says "Massive Clash (250 vs. 250 group battle)"

Such a disappointment you say?

Just wait till they shutdown the servers after getting everyone hooked like they did with H1Z1 Just Survive.

Can you call all the games who are battle royal or its imitators who are now and will be out until this game is out?

The problem with your statement is you're essentially saying any successful company should always chase and imitate the latest trend. This causes everything to be the same, and games that were once in their own special niche, lose it, because they're trying to be a slightly better version of the latest trend.
It kills all games that had their own thing going on, because they're just another title.

We need innovation, I am already ♥♥♥♥♥♥' sick of BR games and going back to the classic game modes.

Planetside was a world leader in mechanics, pacing, balance, huge battles, meta, playstyles, team work on the squad and global level. This was all in Planetside 1 a game not yet surpassed, only graphically. PS2 is dumbed down and has a fraction of the features, but hey it looks better, so it must be better right?

PS1 was innovation and it rewarded skill. The longer you played the better you got and the more you pwned noobs. Daybreak don't have a clue. All they have to do is bring the original vision and mechanics, update them, not DUMB THEM DOWN, and we will see PUBG level commitment from the playerbase.

Keep giving us dumb throwaway point click win games like PS2 and they'll be forgotten.

TBF, if they didn't dumb it down they probably couldn't port it to console gaming.
