Not for £20, absolutely not.
If it's on a sale, then maybe but frankly this store page leads you on to thinking this game is something it's not, and that really does not make me want to recommend this game at all.

Not accurate in my opinion.

You're getting a linear set of levels which are very limited in size, only areas with serious interactivity outside of the main gameplay are the opening level and the level you go to when you complete the game.
You're also looking at around 3-4 hours length, and that would've been much shorter for me if I realised the weapon stores are really pointless in the end, stick with the base sword and bow for an hour or two and then you'll have yourself the endgame gear the game gives you for free.

It can be fun at times but frankly, that store page is offering you something it is not.
I don't feel comfortable giving it a positive rating.

This game wants you to believe there's more to it than there really is.

Put simply, the combat is about as bland and generic as one would expect from literally any other VR Action/Adventure RPG title on steam. Wildly flail your arms and hope they die, though technically there's a parrying mechanic, It's easier to just flail. Plus once you get the leviathan axe (though admittedly by that point you're basically end-game anyway), you just lightly twitch your wrist and send and endless barrage of axe-head at your enemies.

As for all the seemingly cool/unique world interactions shown off in the promo footage, they mostly exist on the first stage of the game, and serve no real on-going function. For instance, what appears to be forging/maintaining your weapons in the promo, is really a once-off gimmick and at no point in the game can you actually forge weapons or anything of that nature (not that I've seen anyway, and I beat the game in my 2.4 hours of playtime.)

Literally every screenshot on the store page is one of the stages of the game, two of which are boss-arena's, and one is just the pretty set-piece you land in after the final boss, and only one level isn't shown as far as I can remember.

Bottom line: As said previously, The game wants you to believe it's more than it is. It's not, and it isn't really worth $25.

This game is polished and a game that shows the potential of VR in the future. I wasn't going to post a review, but since there are a couple of reviews in here that have negative points that I don't agree with, I just wanted to share my thoughts on this.

First of all, it seems like a lot of people are complaining about the game's length. I am 4 hours in and I haven't completed the game yet. One of the reasons is because I like to explore in VR games. If you do not like to explore in VR games, then yes, do not buy this game because this game is all about the exploring. You explore to get runes, coins, and souls to upgrade your character and to buy new weapons.

Then people say that the trailer is misleading, because the mechanics introduced in there, like fixing blades, smelting iron and cooking are only done in the first stage. It's true that you don't really need to do these things to get further in the game. I haven't found another place to fix my sword for example. I understand it is disappointing that this isn't part of the core gameplay further in the game. I did feel that for a bit too. However, I then found places in different stages where these little details were found too. Like there was a cooking pot on a table in the 2nd level, where I could make my own potion by cooking a mushroom, grabbing a bottle, uncap it and then dip it in the pot to get my potion. This table was easily missed if you don't go exploring though.

The reason I'm saying this is because these 'small' mechanics are awesomely made, it's polished and detailed. It's a lot of work to put these 'gimmicks' in. Developers don't have to do that, and sadly, a lot of the developers don't. One of the reasons I would recommend this game is that you can see the amount of work that was put in this game. And these little details are just fun to explore in VR. Sure, it could have been better, by really integrating all these small things into the core gameplay. Then the game would have been longer and should be more expensive too.

Although I also disagree a bit that you don't see the mechanics back in the game. You actually do see some of it back, for example you can burn your hands if you grab one of the melting irons that are on fire. You still get burned if you try to reach for a candle later in the game. You learn to climb ladders, wall plants/ hang from ropes in the first level, and in future levels you are gonna be doing this too. This might sound like small details, but those things are huge for me in VR. I like to be able to interact with the world.

I haven't even mentioned the shop mechanism in this game, and that you can actually bargain and talk to NPCs, is so fun, which you have to do throughout the game.

The combat is well done too. Of course, if you are lazy and just flail around your weapon, then, of course, it isn't as fun as actually parrying, blocking, and do long arching swings to hit. Plus the slow motion dismemberments/decapitating are a nice touch. The battle mechanics aren't as heavy duty as Blade & Sorcery, but I feel the combat is well-balanced and a lot of fun if you actually try to do it like you would 'in real life'.

So this is a game recommended for those that like exploring and like to do combat as the devs want you to. It isn't a huge RPG like Skyrim VR by far, but I think the combat system & interactive elements in this game are done better than Skyrim VR.

I don't think $25 is a lot if I can get 4-6 hours out of this game. A movie of 2 hours costs about $15 nowadays, so this is well worth the money. That is if you like to explore and trying out all the small mechanics that goes in this game.

The loading bug is a big issue though if it still exists. That should definitely be fixed.

This game has a dog that you can play fetch with, feed treats, and give commands to with actual voice commands. That alone is worth a 5 star rating

Mechanics are boasted about then forgotten for the rest of the game such as smelting iron, fixing blades, and sharpening them and even cooking. This is only done at the very start and then at maybe 2 points you can cook a steak and that's it. Another thing to point out is as of writing this they have a gif of you parrying a knight in the starting area on the store page. That's actually 2 knights sparring and you don't get to participate in that.

The game is extremely short and fails to deliver on a worth while experience. Any time the game had to load a new area, I had to restart the game because it would freeze up and not respond anymore. The speech function was cool when it worked but usually after 1 use, it would stop working unless the game was restarted and even then sometimes it would fail to work anyway. The final boss of the game is just you smacking balls back and forth Link vs. Ganon style and such a departure from every other part of the game. You could call this an "Epic boss fight with multiple stages," if you think the balls changing colors and go faster is what you call an epic boss fight.

For me this is a bait and switch from what is shown to what you actually get.

The game was also completed in under 4 and a half hours.

Its about 6 hours of fun VR RPG with a simple story and a bit of lore if you like that sort of thing. As someone else pointed out, I would have been severely disappointed if I had spent the full 25 on this game. It has 0 replay value which is very unfortunate because I would have LOVED to see a more full, open world, Fable type of game. If you can get it 10 dollars or under, I recommend it, but don't expect anything ground breaking.

This is what I call VR Bait.

A game that shows seemingly cool VR gameplay. Oh nice, I can play fetch with a dog. Oh I can cook meat and feed a horse a carrot. But there's really not much quality behind it. The movement is slow and basic, the physics are almost non existent, combat is unsatisfying.
They just know how to make a trailer for a VR game.

Was waiting patiently for the release of this game, and... it was not worth it.

As others already mentioned, they make you believe there is more than there is. The Castle with the green gras from the screenshots is just and EndGame scene with some collectibles (AGAIN). Fishing, cooking, feeding the horse, ... is just some deko at start and end of the game, has nothing to do with gameplay or health mechanic or anything like that.
There is next to no combat, basically the whole game consists of collecting runes. I still don't know what these runes are actually for. There is also some smithing going on at the start to strengthens or repair weapons. Yah thats it, ONLY AT THE START, before the first fight. There is no way of doing it during the game.

What I liked about the game:

-EndBoss fight
-Interaction mechanics (smithing, fishing, cooking the steak, ...) (I hate that they were only cosmetics)

It seems they were going to go big, but spend to much time on interactions, money went low so rushed some gameplay.

You spend quite a bit of time in the first 3 'levels' hunting for all the runes. By levels I mean the tavern, training grounds and war room area. There is very little to do here other than introduce you to the story. Once you complete these areas the game opens up to combat and once you reach enemy territory the game really starts to feel more like a VR souls game. The crypt was probably my favorite level.

Unfortunately your progression is tied to finding these runes in the world before moving on which ends up just being tedious and unfun. Especially when the bug out with no way to reset them. The way runes are linked to progress is that you can not equip certain gear without the appropriate number of runes. As long as you find a little more than half the runes in a level you should be able to use all the weapons in the game by the end.

In addition to runes you also gain souls, in the shape of dropped hearts, from enemies as you kill them. These can be spent on melee damage, health or ranged damage. It's very simple. Maybe a bit too simple but it's easy to understand at a glance.

You can waggle to win and in some instances it's preferable. The first boss fights second phase for example. You can do much more damage to the pillars by waggling than real swinging.

That being said, the first boss fight was rather enjoyable. I liked the mechanics and the battle of wills mechanic. It was a good boss fight and if they'd built on that, the game was shaping up to be pretty good.

Unfortunately it somewhat goes downhill from here. The final boss fight was an absolute joke. We beat the lord of the underworld, the god of darkness, the big bad of the game....

...by playing pong?????

This is where this game is absolutely disappointing. The fight is such a let down.

After the boss fight your given a moral choice and then back to the overworld to a very poorly animated, one year later scene and a lackluster, somewhat buggy, interactive area where you can... !!! Find more runes !!! Because I loved that part of the game...

I did love the world interactions such as the smelting and hammering out a sword. You can cook a steak over a fire. Feed, pet and play with your horses and doggo. I loved the NPC interaction when haggling too.

There was a lot of promise with this game but it trips over itself in too many places. It's got too many technical issues starting up the game. The beginning happens far too slowly. There's too much tedium and not enough fun gameplay. Things pick up in the middle but again fall off hard at the end of the game. Upon completing Shadow Legend VR I just felt disappointment.
