Xbox controller wont work in menu?

Tried all the usual stuff, no bueno.

Edit: Seems it clashes with every and any other controller device. In my case, it was clashing with a Fanatec adapter.

My PS4 controller works fine, I'll grab my Xbox One X controller and edit this.

Are you plugging it in prior to starting the game, or during the game running?

EDIT: Just checked my Xbox One controller, plug it in prior to starting, I have no issues.

Wireless, tried connecting at many differing times

Ah I see, I am using a controller with a USB Cable, technically "wired" in a sense. Have you got a cable to connect it with?

Just tried with the cable, still no go. Quite strange. Tried restarting steam, rebooting, will try redownloading the game again I suppose.

Edit: No dice.

no sir im wired. i can get to the free ride whilst loading screen if i hit enter. but thats as far as it will go

UPDATE!!!! Turns out my logitech wheel was overriding my game pad, any one else having issues if you got a gaming wheel or any other sorta input i suggest taking it out

Having the same issue. Running a wired Xbox One controller. No input is recognised at all. Works perfectly fine in any other game that supports it. Doesn't matter whether I have it wired or run it wirelessly.

I am using a wireless XBox One controller and it's working perfectly fine. Tried it with cable as well, also working.

Using a wired xbox one controller and the game just doesn't want to detect it whatever i try. atleast im no the only one having this isssue

If you still happen the same problem, check this FAQ answer:

What happens if I start the game and the remote doesn’t work. What’s wrong?
Check if there are more USB plugged if the answer is yes, unplugged and reconnect or change the plug. It usually works. In case it is still not functioning, try to restart the computer or the game and connect and disconnect the remote control. Do not connect the remote while the game is running. Also, check you have the latest drivers version.
