"reciever.relnoun" is apparently my victim
Currently working a case where the victim was found in a red heart shape made with lipstick, and their name + Leo on the wall, with the final nail in the coffin being the vmails they've been getting about someone at work harassing them.

It seemed pretty open and shut, except there is no Leo in the gov database. And the vmails are from Unknown, and refer to the victim as "reciever.relnoun."

I can't help but feel like my victim was killed by someone who doesn't exist... Am I the only one to run in to such a bug, or is there some gameplay element I'm missing? God I hope it's not bugged beyond repair...

Clearly either a bug, or your detective has found a glitch in the Matrix.

this is 100% a bug. if i had to guess i think the game chose an already dead victim. for what its worth, i have never once seen this before, on the forums or otherwise- not a common bug.
I'm glad you posted this! I got the same scenario with the lipstick heart, bugged looking email etc. I've exhausted every lead I can think of, and all that's left is somebody named Luca she paid according to her bank statement. But there's no Luca in the government database. Super frustrating but I'm glad I know I'm not imagining it now.

Posting here just to add to this. Just got it as well that looks to be a main suspect. On a sniper case. The TO and FROM on the emails are also both the victim.

50% of my cases have at least one email from no one or from a person to themselves at least twice, and/or are writing to rel.Noun

:steamfacepalm:

Do not rely on the V-Mails for this. The V-Mails are from the people they REPORTED the stalker incident from. These emails only build a profile, or for flavor. Try looking through their address book, and maybe you'll find someone there.
