Furnishing the apartment
I had assumed there was some kind of default furnishing for it, or at least a Fallout New Vegas style list of essential things to buy that appear in fixed locations. Do I really have to just manually place every singe fixture and piece of furniture just to have a decent looking apartment to look at for 60 seconds every once in a while?

This wasn't meant to be a crafting/basebuilding game (or whatever you choose to call that sort of mechanism). Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems really silly to make the apartment decorating part of the game take that much time and energy.

A good viable alternative is to rent a hotel room.

I mean it has it's charm and once you find a room/suite you like you can keep it by paying the bill.

Thank you, I might try that.

You can also choose the "start with apartment" option, which will start you with a fully furnished apartment.

I think the appartment furnishing inventory system is pretty well implemented and fun to use imho.
The hotel system is great too, with everything at hand, jobs, drinks, food and will cost less than buying furnitures after a just a couple of missions (especially if you follow the scripted beginning).
But yeah might be an idea to add furnished/unfurnished options, maybe through mods ?
