Suggestion: Business opening hours printed on the front of the business
Important part: ...Title. You should just be able to look at a normal business and know the business hours instantly without having to stumble on it when it's open and think to ask a staff member.

Context:
So I admit I have had a bad day today and wildly overreacted to a minor inconvenience.
Booted up SoD wanting to idk spend like an hour in an environment under my control where I am choosing to be and where I have a level of agency not present IRL. Picked up a vandalism job with a rare implant, and my only leads were "Build: This; Facial Hair: That; Job: Retail Owner".
Now despite what the manual says about having an infinite memory for people and places you don't actually get to keep a terrifying panopticon of everyone you've encountered in cases if you actually archive cases after completion. So I didn't just instantly know from likely having checked all the businesses. Naturally, the plan was to go into retail businesses and see which photo of a retail owner matched the job description... except more than half of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ retail was closed from 2am to 9pm.
The last straw of course was getting shot to bits by a drone gun while breaking into the last bar to try to confirm who owned it, at which point naturally instead of getting up and taking a few deep breaths I deleted every save related to that city and then the city itself.

In my experience the business gets easily out of sync longer the game runs as people have to walk between home and the work place. Frequently businesses that should be open aren't even if the door gets unlocked... it's so bizarre to walk into a store to sell *coughborrowedcough* items at the opening hours to trigger alarm because none of the staff have actually arrived at the work place yet. In worst case scenarios of my long games the shops have been in limbo for days in row. :/

Similarly it's rather curious to watch multistore apartment building empty at ~9 pm... presumably because NPC need the time to path-find to their designed work places.

Same, unless the business is always open after a few game days you will notice that customers will be in the store and walking around but there's no workers. As said above the culprit is mostly a travel time and staff size issue. While people can put their fingerprints on elevators, I have yet to see them use it; they use the stairs. If there were more elevators, and the people used them, we would probably see a better response time for workers.

I've noticed things like this cropping up, too. along with citizens that explicitly have jobs staying in their apartment 24-7 even though their work rota says otherwise, and businesses and shops that should be open given their stated ours still being closed and locked up.

I really do love this game, I just hope these issues get ironed out before the full release.

Work hours typically start at 07:00 yet they will all typically be closed until NPCs finally begin to show up around 13:00, which means far too short a window to find suspects or roberr, I mean search the premises. And this is in a "medium" size city. Likewise, waiting for people to leave so you can search their homes is futile as they just won't leave for work. Nor will they reliably get back home from work so you can arrest them, but this could be explained away by people having other things to do. All night, while all the shops are closed. Point is, I don't think it's the travel time or the staff size, it's that NPCs just don't seem to bother with the schedule. At all.
