Crash at startup after "press any key"

I bought the game today and it crashed shortly after I pressed any key at the prompt after starting the game. The Unity Crash Manager opens, but then I end up back on the desktop. I have it installed on my C or D drive. I have updated all drivers. I have set the priority to high in Task Manager. I have added it as an exception in the antivirus.

The first time I tried to start the game, I got to the main menu at least briefly, then the game hung for the first time, and since then I've had the above problem.

The solutions offered by people with the same problem have not helped me.

I don't know what to do and I'm going to return the game for now.

Has somebody any ideas?

Hi Six, sorry to hear you're having trouble with the game. Have you sent a bug report? Alternatively, can you please send us your ‘player.log’ and ‘player-prev.log’ files from ‘C:\Users\Username\AppData\LocalLow\ColePowered Games\Shadows of Doubt directory’ to [e-mail]

Have the same problem. Haven`t played in maybe half a year and went back to it now and it crash after press any key screen. Tried all the usual solutions.

Can confirm this is happening to me as well. Have been unable to play the game.

*edit: It has started loading for me. The only thing I did differently was interacting with another program while the loading screen was up, which auto minimised Shadows of Doubt. When I checked back, it was at the main menu. I quit and started the game again, and it got to the main menu again, no issue.

As I am waiting for the answer for my mail, I tried your method. I stardet the game, switched to another app and waited a few minutes to open the game again. I landed on the first screen with the any-key promt. I then tried to switch again to another app, but it crashed again. Tried it again with just klicks and no keyboard input and the game crashed immediately. :(

Update:
I have received a friendly mail with the message that they are still looking for the cause of the problem.
Fortunately, the problem no longer occurs since the last patch!

Nope, still going strong. Just bought it and it's not starting with the exact same problem. The hourglass pulsates for a while, then a cursor appears, the hourglass freezes and then everything crashes.

I kinda solved it. Verifying the files didn't do anything, but moving it from a standard HDD to an SSD worked for some reason

i have a similar problem but instead of crashing it just shows a black screen when the main menu loads. Anyone has the same issue?
