Tips for hard cases, no clues.,no weapon
I am stuck with murder case that have nothing to go on.

The killer uses vents, I have gotten there before security gate went up. Cameras have not found anyone walking in via main door.

No weapon, no prints. Vents go around almost whole building.

I am not sure what to do next.

I have list of residents and janitor and guard. List of people from emails. But I am unable to figure out what's the next step

Killer left a red sign that I tried to correlate to tenants. But its hard as sign is obscured. There is a business card by the body too

Any hints?

1. I havent played in awhile but that is the first time I have heard killers use vents.
are you assuming that or is there some new game mechanic that suggests it?

2. I assume you also have the persons contact phone list.

3. I assume you have asked the people at the business on that card?

4. in case you didnt know, the police office has computers you can look up any name and get more info including finger prints.

5. I would also check the finger prints at the door of the place.

1. I google it and some people confirm it. I checked google as the killer was not on the floor (i arrived before security doors opened), and did not appear on cameras entering the apartment.

2. yes

3. it seems to be a killer signature sign, business card reads: "Didn't have what it takes put a pin in it they must earn my respect@

4. Yes, but look up what? I have no unidentified prints in the appartment. only victim and partner (who didnt do it - i submitted case and failed)

5. checked all including near vents

4. I forget if I would take the name on the list and try to find the full name on the computer to then find where they live or not. I do not recall, either way, yeah..every single door, but without a print its hard. i do not think I have solved one without a print.

or, close the case and get a new one, some of these cases are just to hard in my opinion
sorry I could not have more

Killers appear to use vents. When investigating murder scenes in apartments, you'll sometimes see opened vents leading from somewhere outside the apartment to inside of it. I think there's also maybe an example of the game mentioning this in the tutorial? I don't know a lot about the tutorial so that could very well be wrong.

interesting, which means..if open vent there might be a fingerprint.

I had a similar case. The killer left no evidence except for a writing on the wall. The writing was the key to solving the case, usually it has the killer's initials or a similar clue to their name.

What I did was go to the black market and look at the sales ledger and look at everyone who bought the murder weapon. There I found someone with the same initials that I saw on the wall and boom, got em. They had no relationship to the victim at all except that they lived in the same building.

Get a newspaper. A few hours afterwards it will update to the most recent murder and may be able to give you a clue to go on.

Partners/other NPCs have been picking up notes and things on me, taking those valuable fingerprints with them recently.

If the card you found only has the Inspect option you should be able to scan it where it sits.

I know it's a long shot, but check the phone records too. They're not used a ton until the time that they are...

Update, I droped the case and killer attacked again.
Both victims had the same employer.
I guessed the right guy and moved on.

Dropping murder cases does nothing. The murderer doesn't change when the case is dropped, and they don't stop killing unless you catch them, so closing the case serves only to remove your access to that particular case board for no benefit.

I should clarify, dropping other cases will work, but murders specifically can't really be dropped in the traditional sense. The "drop case" button works, but it doesn't get rid of or change the killer, or regenerate anything.

If you (or anyone reading) wants the murders to stop for a bit, just disable the "procedural murders" setting in the gameplay settings. It can be enabled / disabled at any moment to give you a break.
