Maybe in the future.
I visited the friend of the victim, but because I had no way of informing the friend of the deceased, it made the conversation very mundane and a bit of a dead-end. I guess it's true what they say: money is king, and if you don't have it, your conversational investigations will struggle.
People will attack you if they see you making an arrest in public.
There's some sync disk upgrades you can find/install that will make people much more co=-operative.
Does raising reputation actually help tho, or is it exclusively the sync disks that make people cooperative?
The only time you actually get to tell someone about the death of their friend the right way is in the case of the hired killer. The victim's friend suspects the killer and when you show up, you can tell them the vic is dead after asking them if they know them.
You are onto something here, though, being a detective game, certain questions should be contingent on the question asked beforehand and what you already know for sure, and questions asked should have a cumulative effect both on the citizen's attitude toward you, their responses based on their role, and the questions you're able to ask for free and those that need extra teasing.
Seems to me the devs need to address the conversation trees once the bugs are looked into because this is really a story telling game and has great potential to be one of the best.
I'm not 100% sure if it does right now, but there is a big item on the roadmap dealing with this specifically. How the citizens treat you.
I'm near the end of my first playthrough and it does seem like more people are telling me their names now when I ask, I'm not sure if that's due to my standing or not or if it's just random.
