Having to eat and drink every 5 minutes
It felt like I had to constantly eat and drink every few in-game hours. In the end, I had to turn the status effects off because it was unrealistic and irritating. Has anyone else had to do this same?

No because you don't have to do any of that. You drink and eat for the buffs, which should always require maintaining if you actually want them. It takes actual ingame days to get hungry and/or thirsty enough for it to actually matter, and even then all it does is reduce your healing rate, which also isn't a problem if you don't get caught committing crimes.
Unless you installed the Sugar Daddy sync disk, you should be fine without food and drink for a long, long time. Though, if you *did* install that disk - yeah, you'll have a bad time if you aren't showing brand loyalty.

It's definetly not few in-game hours, maybe few irl hours. When you eat or drink something, make sure you do it till the end until you can't eat drink anymore. Besides I find it immersive to sit on the sofa in restaurant, eat, drink, read newspaper about latest crimes

I played for 2.5 hours earlier and never had anything say I needed to eat or drink and all the status effects were enabled in my options

Do you mean I should buy multiple food and drink items until the game stops me from using them?

They mean when you start the drinking or eating animation, don't end them early. Just let them play out until they stop on their own to get the full effects of the items.

Also, the icons on the side turn a brighter shade of green the closer they are to 100%. If an icon is looking kinda white, you may not have eaten or drank enough yet for the buffs to last their full duration. You can view these buffs and their duration in your Inventory [X] menu.

I understand that doesn't really solve the problem for you though. The eating/drinking/showering can be tedious. Personally I don't think it's quite *enough* of an impediment. The consequences for not ever eating, drinking, or sleeping are negligible. And hygiene is only important because being smelly makes it harder to sneak.

Well that's what I was doing before. I'll try again and see if I notice any difference if I eat until I get green boosts.

Put some life into it!

Yes, I completely understand you on that it sucks alot to need to eat every few minutes and then your inventory is super small.

That disc is a little much. I like the food and drink mechanics, they really add something to the game but having to drink a starch cola every 2 minutes is nuts. The real mystery here is how my character hasn't got diabetes yet.

Nah, you just dont have sync disks for it yet. I currently sit at around 10 inventory slots.

You can eat / drink in small amounts and the effect is identical. The only real difference is the status effect lasts a few seconds less
Nah, I've gotta side with the OP. I waited for a handful of in-game hours (4 at most) at a target's house to photograph them, (partially because I was curious as to if someone I'd arrested before would actually still show up for a quest they were part of), drank all the synth-milk, tinned food (which seemed to do literally nothing) and candy in their home and still ended up with critical thirst and hunger icons. Also, water coolers don't seem to do anything to thirst either.

From my experience the positive effects wear off a littlebit too fust, but the negative effects take quite a long time to appear. 1-2 full cases is definitely possible to play through without the need to buy food, but since there are vending machines everywhere it's not really that hard to buy new stuff while running from one building to the next.

But given, that you've no downside beyond not regenerating health (and missing out on the buffs), i would say it's also ok to simply ignoring them, until you need the self healing ability again.

Tinned food does take away hunger and add bonuses but it takes about 3 full tins.
