I wouldn't get too ambitious with it at the moment. Bought furniture has a tendency to just disappear, especially if you want to move something that is already placed. You could potentially throw money into the ether, and given how sluggish the decoration menu is, saving frequently between every correct furniture placement can be a tiresome ordeal.
I have also heard more than one case where all of someone's saves suddenly stopped working, except for those that did not have an edited apartment.
Most lights don't work at the moment. The only ones you'll have success with are lamps, specifically wall/standing lamps.

Dang it.... My closet is pitch black and its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ scary.
There's a blocky standing lamp that I like. I put them in every corner of the apartment and decorate around them. They're not overtly bright, so they won't blind you, but they do a good job of banishing the shadow monsters.
Thank goodness... I just want to tuck my phone in the little closet out of the way but if its that dark the monster might get me
