struggling to find an arrest target
Shoe size 8
fingerprint W

... I don't even have a general address, am I expected to investigate every single individual, every hotel room and look for inhalers? there has to be a better means. is there patient records or shoe shops that could have records to find everyone with that size? I don't mind doing the work but only if its actual detective work and not guess work.

You can look at sales records in a pharmacy and see who's bought inhalers, though it might be a dead end. Checking for prints around the stores could help too. Beyond that, though, it's a rough job...some of them really don't give you much to work with. You can always close them without penalty if they're unreasonable.

I might just do a new save entirely. maybe even generate instead of using charlotte heights.
This game does very well in a lot of aspects. But I feel like it could be better if there were more avenues of detection or info gathering- IF THEY HAD PEOPLE YOU COULD HIRE AS INFORMATION SOURCES AND YOU PAY THEM AND STUFF, THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. it would cut down on so many problems with mission generations.

If you have a fingerprint, you can always find your target in the government database in the city hall. Checking your print against several hundred records one by one might not be everybody's cup of tea, though.

A mole told me the government has an usefull database with fingerprints somewhere, but you can only search by name. You could shrink the number of possible people with pharmacies sales ledgers then search in the database for the names you got ;-)

damn, this is the kind of stuff that should have been mentioned in the tutorial.

I think it's one of those hints appearing in loading screens when you save/load/generate a game.

mine got print type W on just a toy car. Checked the pharmacy's records and both the people had different fingerprint types. No phone numbers, so notes, the only hint was written on the walls but was cutoff early, and I'm starting to think it was a necessary hint.

That hint probably said the initials of the victim and PAID, if they are in a red circle with lines dashing around the edge.
I'm dealing with a tough case right now. Two murders, no prints, no witnesses, no description. I MIGHT have a shoe print size, but I can't be sure if it was the killer or the enforcer who arrived before me. All leads cold. I don't even have a suspect right now.

This is the game. It's a detective game and if there were a foolproof way of solving every case, it wouldn't be a detective game, it would be an exercise in tedium. Nobody wants that, do they?

Yes it's going to get hard. You're going to feel like you're not making progress. It's going to seem hopeless, but the killer is out there, that much we know for sure. One day they will screw up and I'll catch them. You should all be embracing this challenge instead of reloading so you can by a nice apartment.
