What to do with writing on walls?
I was investigating a murder, and when I got to the scene I saw some writing on the wall. I don't remember what it was, but I was wondering what I'm supposed to do with it?

somtimes you can find fingerprint near the writings that would be tied to the criminal, happened in my cases.

It's generally just a vague little clue about the killer or their motive, e.g. "[victim initials] & [killer's first initial] forever" in stalker cases. Some people have mentioned taking a picture of it with a camera, but I'm not sure what that does, if anything.

If it's red, it's probably written using lipstick. Look for some lipstick nearby and scan it for prints.

the camera seems kind of broken in general

good to know but often the wall writing bugs out completely

If you get bugged wall writing then check the newspaper - it sometimes describes the messages written at the murder scene.

it is broken. The picture you take will remove stuff in the frame when you reload your save sometimes. which if you think about it is kind of horrifying

Supposedly graffiti found out in the wild (not at crime scenes) will give you the password to the underground businesses. I haven’t actually encountered this though so idk

How long has it been since the murder happened?

I had one murder where something was written on the wall in what I assume was blood ("PUT A PIN IN IT"), and when I returned to the crime scene some days later, it had become streaks on the wall, dripping down, completely illegible.

Thought that was a nice touch, and I'm pretty sure that was working as intended, not a bug.

i mean, as in, one time i saw that put a pin in it text scrawled across two separate perpendicular walls in the same apartment, severed in four pieces.

That was definitely a bug.

Oh, and as for the other thing; the game appears to sometimes render that text really squished horizontally and stretched vertically on game load.

Huh, I wonder if that second thing is what I saw, then?

I hope not... I really liked the idea that it would just kind of "drip away" after a time. That felt like a nice extra little detail.

yeah, I usually ignore the wall message, as its typically not helpful when proving anything in the case. As long as I have a murder weapon with a finger print, its pretty much case resolved at that point.

They seem to be really buggy, I do hate to break it to you.

I think something about the way decals are projected is just glitchy in general, e.g. graffiti that covers doors disappears when the door moves. The only real clue from the writing is the "AB & C Forever" one since it has the killer's initial. I read the claim that "Put a pin in it" indicates a co-worker.
