No apartment
Is it the norm to start a game without a place to live? I have started 3 different games now and did not have an apartment, and was just out on the street. Is this normal or random, I can just buy one, but wasnt sure.

i think only the tutortial mission sets u up with a place, random generated seeds do not. makes it feel like ur just arriving in the town and have to scrounge up to get a place.

There's a setting when starting a new game to give yourself a 'starting apartment'. Take a look at the (I think it's called) 'Setup' or 'Gameplay Settings' menu when you start a new game and you'll be given a bunch of options, including starting credits, lockpicks, etc.

The is a starter game comes with an apartment. It provides a starter Murder too to follow.

The sandbox (which is customisable in size, difficulty, etc) gives you no apartment to start with. You have to earn credits (or steal and sell stuff) to buy an apartment. They can be found on flyers on billboards (in restaurants, government hall, etc).

@Random Event - you can also get a free starting apartment when you play Sandbox. Go to the 'Gameplay Settings' and enable 'Starting Apartment' - it's on the 3rd screen or so, after generating a world and when creating your character.

You can check if you have access to any apartments already by clicking the icon that says 'toggle map' when you mouse over it second from left at the top of the case menu. Looks like a google maps pin standing on a square.

On the top left of the map a vertical set of icons can be seen. The second one down looks like a house and reads 'open apartment folder' on the tooltip. Click it and it will bring up a pinnable note of any apartments that you own, which you can then use to plot a route.

As a secondary note, how do you vandalize an apartment? Cant seem to find any way to do so.

Many Thanks, loving the game and learning more each time I play.

This was actually bugged for me, the guy providing shelter would not give me the keys for the life of me, no matter how many times I talked to him.

FIX: go to settings - gameplay - "snndbox mode starting apartment" turning off and on again, then talking to the guy again
