Can I see a list of all residents of an apartment complex?
I have an arrest warrant, only info given is the first name inital is J and they work in a 15 story apartment complex. There's a restaurant and lounge connected to the complex, but I searched the employee records of both and found no names beginning with J. (I was also given the info that their height is 174 but that doesn't help at all)

Most apartment complexes do have a security room on one floor that will contain resident files in a file cabinet, and on a computer. Note that the file cabinet won't contain all residents because file cabinets only have so much room, so don't take your guy not being listed as not living there. The room looks like this (5th floor in this case):

This room also contains apartment employee files which is probably want you want more anyway.

Check the upper floors, some buildings have offices that the perp might work at. They will all have their own databases for their employees, there's no "main directory".

If the building happens to have 10+ floors with only offices, it might be best to close the case without making an arrest. Game currently doesn't punish you for doing so and random generation for isn't always fair

you could start by making a very long list from the city directory and see if any of those faces shows up on cctv or surveillance in or around the building.

The mailboxes on the ground floor have the names attached to each apartment. Not sure if every building has mailboxes though

i think the target is only working there, not necessarily living there...

If you mean "working there" as in working for one of the businesses, it's best to do a sweep of the building starting at the top or bottom and then working your way up or down. Try to snag blueprints from the building's security room.

Most businesses have their personnel files in the office's backroom/security camera room. Others also have a board with pics of the employees which, if it's in a place that won't trigger the security systems, can be browsed through quickly.

If you mean that the person is working for the building, as in, maintenance/janitor, the security room should also have the personnel files for the building's employees.

I ended up closing the case without any conclusion. In this complex I couldn't find any businesses other than the first two I mentioned in the original post, (they were both on the first floor) and I didn't find the security room that contained resident files (didnt know about it and probably didn't look hard enough tbh) but all very inciteful answers! Good to know for the next super ambiguous case in an apartment complex lol

Whoa, do they? I've never seen that, only apartment numbers.
