Multiple neighbours claim they saw the dead victim

2 days after he died, inside his house. I wanted to arrest the first who told me, as she was obviously lying, but now I understand it's just a bug and I have no idea how to solve this murder. Please fix this bug, thank you

seeing someone two days ago is still seeing them
what you want is someone who saw them around the time of the murder

Maybe they dont know is dead, they just say i "saw" him there. This kind of information is usefull, can lead to is home or job even if is dead.

I've had them tell me they saw him after he was dead. I think the NPCs just read the presence of the body, them seeing the victim around the room is always worthless and its better to focus on other characters who move around

It is not necessarily a bug. Sometimes people make mistakes, especially when it comes to their memory.

I think you're right in that they don't have a flag for if the victim is dead or not. Possible solution is reporting "Awful situation... anyway, last time I saw them alive was (insert date and time)"? Which calls back to the last point they saw the victim alive before the date and time they were murdered. Seems like this would be quite intense for each person in the city though!

I had this with neighbours, my assumption is if people are in the same location they are updated on their location now and then, behind the scenes, which leads to people telling you yeah they just saw the corpse half an hour ago.

Yeah I don't really care how this bug came to exist, I'm posting here so the devs know about it and can fix it. I hope we can all agree innocent people without a motive to lie about seeing the dead victim walking around, should either NOT give a time when the civilian is ALREADY DEAD, or say they saw his corpse there and then...
I am in a mood to start beating and handcuffing everybody who tells me they saw the murder victim that I am investigating, who's been dead for 10 hours, 2 hours ago. Please, steam warriors, recognize this is not a feature :-D lol

Yeah I've talked about this thing too, they'll react to seeing the corpse like they would seeing them drinking a coffee down the street and will report it to the player as such. It's an annoying bug so if someone lives or works where the body was found it's kinda worthless asking them about the victim.

This has been happening for me too, a neighbour literally claimed he had seen the victim an hour after he was supposed to have died which made me think this neighbour was surely the killer and investigate him thoroughly (he was not lol).

Yeah this is a persistent bug I have been talking about - it's gone to the point that people tell me they saw the victim but they say they saw them at the crime scene at the current time I am asking them. It makes even less sense when the body is somewhere not visible and locked. It's worse when it's a street murder because everyone tells you "yeah I saw so-and-so at the scene of the crime at this time", so you end up with no information since literally everyone says it lol.
