Is there a way to get rid of cockroaches?

I prefer the smaller apartments on the lower floors because I don't want to have to spend a minute riding the elevator every time I want to go home or leave again. But they all have garbage in the corners and a ton of roaches crawling about.
Every person whose bank record I've checked so far had called pest control; Is that an actual thing you, the player, can do as well? Or any other way to clean your place?
I love my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ tiny apartment, if only it weren't so nasty...

someone suggested changing the dirt slider to 0 in edit mode but i don't know if that works

But I like the layouts less and am too lazy to make my way up any further than the third floor!

Is there a slider for overall apartment dirt somewhere? If so, I can't find it... Setting floor, wallpaper and ceiling dirt each to 0 doesn't get rid of the cockroaches, unfortunately.

Actually, scratch that. I left for a bit after setting said sliders to zero, and when I came back the cockroaches were gone.
