How much tutorial left after eviction in Dead Of Night?

I've solved the first case and gotten evicted but I'm bugged talking to the Former Police Union Rep. The dialogue about getting a key runs but I get no key and can loop the conversation again.

Don't really want to restart the tutorial again (this is the 3rd softlock) unless I am missing something worthwhile by stopping there. Is there much more to go?

Key isn't an actual item, it just allows you to open a door to your temprorary home in a basement apartment. You can find location of it by clicking "show home" button on a map menu. After you get into your apartment tutorial is officially concluded, you can close the murder case and from there you are free to roam. Apartment has no furniture, but there are couple of notes that suggest on your further actions and some documentation you can read. Other than than, there is nothing of worth there.
If you like the idea of having a proper house, i'd suggest investing into buying a cheap apartment that isn't in basement asap.

Thanks for the reply. The apartment she named was still classed as not belonging to me (trespassing when inside, no decor editing etc) so I just bought a new one. Unfortunately the whole save file has a bug that means an apt I buy reverts to unoccupied upon loading the save so I'll probably just start a new game.

I had this same thing happen. The place she says is available is not assigned to me after talking to her. Entering is trespassing.

You have to have the original case active to get the key from her. It is a bit buggy. If you have a save game before handing in the case, load it and do exactly what is being prompted. You should get the key and everything will be fine.

I did solve it without reloading, but I don't remember what I did exactly. I know I did go back to my old apartment and went step by step from there.
