Edit: Another good way to implement the inventory system is instead of it being a case it could be the player's trenchcoat
Where you could go to a local tailor and use money to add additional pockets and even the look of the trenchcoat (if they were to add a clothing system)
Exactly. Shadow of Doubts focus on immersion, so even inventory must be such too.
Perhaps even add a "belt" where you can put things like handcuffs and a gun and a few other common use items. Then the inventory is stuff that you've got stashed in your coat or something.
Maybe you could start the player off with the same sized inventory they have now but through upgrades (and the synth systems) you can augment the clothing to fit more and maybe provide certain bonus' to stealth.
