Is there a way to check on those cameras at all? Their computer won't let me access their camera feed.

Yes you can, turns out the surveilance can spawn on a random floor and replace an apartment.

maybe you're confused with laser detectors which look very much like cameras

Yes, Laser Detectors have the same camera of models but do not act the same- They can't detect you unless their laser directly contacts you, but they set off the alarm immediately instead of letting you hide if they do. They can be disabled like cameras, with lockpicks and a stepping stool beneath them, or with a flash grenade in the same room as them.

i think they have a unique model, no lens like a camera and a bit brighter colored
