Game Length setting
In the sandbox gameplay settings, there is an option called gameplay length. Does this mean that sandbox mode ends at some point, and if so how long does each of the options give you?

If i recall correctly it just regulates the points you have to grind via missions until you rank up for retirement.

Can you postpone retirement and extend the playthrough indefinitely in this game?

2 things I'm 90% sure it does:

1. Makes level requirement for retirement lower
2. Lowers level cap - I could be wrong

What it does is it changes the number of social credit levels that exist, and thereby need to be attained before retirement.

Curiously, now that there are special perks associated with social credit levels, this can result in you being unable to get certain perks during that playthrough, as the social credit level it's tied to won't exist. This is useful for people who don't want to play with the "entering your apartment removes basic debuffs" perk or similar.

I'm actually retired ... well, kinda. I'm at level 8, and got an open case called "retirement", which I suppose gives you the opportunity to retire if you close the case. But for now, closing it is not allowed (you get a pop-up message saying that it's not allowed for the moment).

I don't know if i'll have another murder cases afterward. But i'm still able to complete small jobs.

You need to collect and fill out the retirement form from city hall in order to complete your retirement, which does end the game for that save.

However, you're allowed to play for as long as you like without retiring, and everything (including murders) will progress just as before.
