Steam Deck compatibility?
Hello! As I have seen that the dev frequently responds here, I would firstly like to say that games like these, designed with and driven by true vision, are a breath of fresh air and are what the gaming industry desperately needs. AAA development rapidly drifts further away from original, risky and creative ideas, and games like this can hopefully remind us what this entertainment medium is capable of, if enough creativity and courage is involved. I wish the dev all the best!

To my question then - can we hope for Steam deck compatibility? Is the game even compatible with a gaming controller in its current state?

Per the dev on the Devblog #33 update:

"While the game probably won't be immediately verified on Steam Deck and hasn't been 100% optimised for it yet, it should still be very playable on the Steam Deck at launch. Hopefully throughout early access we will get the big verified tick!"

Hope this helps!

The demo played quite fine on Steam Deck, however for some time I've been using my Steam Deck as replacement for desktop, so it's connected to monitor, keyboard & mouse for some 95% of time.

For the 1st "Next Fest" demo I needed to switch to GE Proton for the "simulating past events" during the world generation to be able to enter the world, otherwise the loading/generating progress bar was stuck on 100%. I don't know how it was with the following demo, as I didn't switch back to the standard Proton.

Thank you very much for your replies! It seems that, one way or another, it will at least be playable at launch, with additional optimisations probably benefiting the game overtime.

I remember from the demo that it wouldn't register the steam deck controls unless you set it up as keyboard and mouse. Hopefully it's been sorted for ea release.
If this plays in steam deck handheld mode without issue then they can have my money lol

Downloading now and only play on the deck, will let you know how it plays.

Controls work fine. FPS is a little low but you dont notice it because its so slow paced.

It works, some stuttering on the deck, but I left settings as they were, while also adding v sync. Using proton 7.0-6. Controls on the deck work well, some pop ups can't be accessed (usually a tutorial tip) by controls so I had to use touchscreen. Looks like dev has set it up already for a gamelan as controls correspond to onscreen activities.

I'm running the tutorial, but loving the atmosphere. If you want noir with a dash of blade runner, this is it.
