The memory leak issue is ruining the game right now
EDIT: so the issue may be caused by the quantity of items pinned to your caseboard, with 30 being the limit before memory leaks start to happen. thats why i noticed the memory leaks happening more with ongoing murder cases as i pin a lot of evidence there.

35 minutes into my session and my game is freezing up anytime i open anything, even my pin board. it makes the game run at 15-20 fps if im not opening any menus. it used to take 2-3 hours to reach this point of freezing, now just takes 30 minutes. ive noticed that people who have this same issue also have crashed when they save, but that hasnt happened to me at all.

if it matters, im playing on the default Charlotte heights map, on whatever size its supposed to be at for the dead of night start. computer specs are; 16gb ram, samsung SSD 650, intel i5-10400f cpu, 1660 super 6gb gpu.

im really liking the game otherwise, but i think ill be playing this game less because of this major issue

I'm going to move to a small random map to see if it has any effect. Maybe try that before bailing. I have a feeling it will make the problem much more tolerable.

I'm running a small map fairly successfully (20fps+, low stutter) on my sub-minspec laptop.
Having a low screen resolution, lean case board, and occasional restarting are indeed musts; weather seems to be a major performance killer. I expect things will improve sooner than later on that front

its not so much a graphical performance but more so information being stored unsuccessfully. the freezes only build up when i collect new information or look at already known information. the employment files found in workplaces attribute heavily in the freezes

I can relate! that makes it sound like the case board is overpopulated: every time I open it it's seemingly regenerated (hopefully tackled soon) and that's a major performance killer
I didn't appreciate how cluttered mine was until I saw a few players on youtube; maybe it'll help you as well?
I also vaguely suspect the game suffers from swapping in/out issues (untested), are your swap files on non-magnetic devices?

I can play at the antic notebook just with 6 gb RAM. Low fps surely, cannot make fast reaction, become slower, when too much rooms is rendered, but still fun at relax pace.

It gets even more infuriating when you're typing a location on your corkboard and it takes 3 seconds to load what you're typing.

It's also unfortunate that, when you want to type a name of a citizen and it has a letter F or X in it. It either opens the evidence board or your inventory for some weird reason. I hope that gets fixed soon too.

ive edited my post in case anyone was using this page to look for a fix, which is what i put into my post

The move to a small map worked for me. Game is a lot more playable. That makes almost everything easier and faster and I barely notice any difference in terms of challenge. The world still feels plenty big. I've had pretty big investigation boards.
There's still a little stutter every time I exit a building and it craps out or comes close after about 3 hours of play / 3 saves, but otherwise the game is very enjoyable to play.
