Social Credit Mechanic?
Hey, I'm not sure i really get what social credit does, what does getting levels from it do exactly inside the game?

From what I have been abled to gather, it's basically like your progress bar that you are to fill in whichever way you see fit

Proper big cases
Sidejobs

Social credit levels do not seem to affect gameplay aspects (Only social credit level 4 myself so there might be some revelations further down the line)

Though it would be cool if a higher social credit level were to lower rent prices for apartments

Reaching the highest social credit level allows for your character to retire to The Fields, which basically serves as the current "victory".

Other than that they don't appear to do anything, although there are rumors about possible effects.

Alright, saw that apparently there's some stuff relating to it in the road map so might come into play then

Okay, I might be wrong about that one but I think I'll share the theory anyway.
I think social credit actually increases the odds that citizens will be willing to talk to you. AS in, the higher you get, the more they will tell you without having to pay them. I did an entire game (all the way to the fields), and on the last case, every people I was asking just accepted to give me their name, let me in their homes, and even give me their fingerprints. The KILLER litteraly gave me his fingerprints, which were my only lead. And when I started a fresh new game, it just wasn't the case anymore. Now, it COULD just be because of a SyncDisk, I had quite a lot of them installed at the time and could forget about some of them, but as far as I know, people just became more willing to answer me the more social credit I got.

Yeah, if you managed to pick up the Beauty syncdisk somewhere along the line, it drastically improves NPC cooperation. To the point of being a bit silly, honestly xD

I think better apartments become available for purchase at higher SC levels. Seems to be the case in my game but it could be a coincidence.

At the start of the game the enforcer office in city hall near the entrance is off limits and has a laser tracker. But once I got a good social credit it became open to me with no restrictions (I use it as an office).

I was just Social score 4 and i didn't have the beauty sync disk or any other that affect this (only for increased inventory and some that gives credit for passcodes) and the killer told me her name, identified her neighbor (the one she killed) her neighbors partner and gave me her fingerprints and invited me into her apartment lol. So i think it's just a random thing. I could just arrest her right there on the spot, and she still had the murder weapon on her. Feels like she just wanted to get caught, there was a camera RIGHT outside the victims door so feels like she didn't care. She had depression after all and her garbage was filled to the brim with alcohol bottles.

social credit does literally nothing in the current version of the game

it does not change anything

In my latest playthrough of experimental branch, there is now buying of apartments limited by social credit feature.

While it's broken now (I can't buy apartments regardless of social credit level), it seems that devs probably plan to lock up the game features behind the social credit level.

Also according to the patch notes, you will only be mugged if your social credit level is above 1

yeah it appears the devs have pretty much just changed this- Before the most recent experimental build, social credit did nothing at all.
