How Frequent are Murder Cases?
I love solving murder cases, they're a lot more immersive and fun than normal commissioned jobs, but they feel very rare. Any way to speed it up? If not, how often do they happen on average?

Use a small map. You get one murder every 24 in game hours.

If they are not happening every 24 hours, something might have gotten stuck. I think it doesn't start a new murder before the last one is discovered, and sometimes it happens in a place it is never discovered, for example.

Not true. I once had a long period of "no murders" when in reality one had happened but it wasn't discovered. When a body was discovered it was the killer's second victim. I know this for certain because it was a cult murder where the killer leaves behind an anagram of their name, but one letter was filled out.

(if you don't know, a cult killer will fill out the blanks one letter at a time for every murder after the first)

I think you misunderstood, because I he meant there won't be a new murderer until the previous case is solved/closed, as in there won't be two murderers at once. Bodies can definitely got unreported.

Ah, you see i was confused when you used the word "murder" and not the word "murderer"

Murders are generally pretty frequent, typically at least one every 24 hours (but they can also be back to back, real minutes between one another if you solve cases quickly).

However, they can get stuck, because the murderer has to satisfy several criteria to commit a murder. Also, the victim must be observed to kick off the murder case; one might not have been found yet in your city.

Spoiler for additional mechanics that will help, but might ruin the magic once you know them: your save file, typically in %AppData%\..\LocalLow\ColePoweredGames or equivalent, is human-readable and will have a single murderer selected, their target, their MO, etc. Just search for "murderer". One of those variables is a cooldown time between murders, and it can occasionally be set very large. So if your game isn't bugged, you can compare save files and see if you rolled a particularly large one, if a victim is set properly, etc and infer details from there.
