Do items like utility knifes and screwdrivers have a purpose in game?

We can pick them up. They sound very useful. The game doesn't dictate where it's just fluff in the game world, or there is an actual use for these things.

I was attacking someone with a utility knife and it definitely seemed less effective than your fists.

Some items in the world are just there for flavour and world building more than anything. I believe that is the case with these items as well.

The tutorial mission runs in "easy mode" so you take significantly less damage overall.
