Haha yes it's safe, I uploaded the files myself. Nothing illegal.
This thread needs to be pinned, Seriously I have been trying to play this for the last year, Played 3 hours straight last night and love it, Thank you very much for your effort.
No worries bro, I will accept Steam profile awards in exchange for your newfound happiness haha. Enjoy, games were wonderful. Its a shame a 3rd never happened.
Description below:
"Based on closer determination, items detected as Malware.AI can be categorized more precisely based on their behavior. Malwarebytes uses the underlying threat categories:
Adware
Fraudtool
Hijack
Ransomware
Riskware
Rogue
Rootkit
Spyware
Trojan
Virus
Worm
Malwarebytes detects unknown threats as Malware.AI by using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques without any specific detection rules to protect users from malware that has not yet been researched and classified. This helps protect our customers against 0-day malware."
It's not malware, It's simply the Win32 folder from the GOG release that you copy/paste over the Steam version.
I assure you its not malware. Its the raw game install files copied directly from my PC and then archived and uploaded.
OK. I just wanted to let you know I got that result either way. Like I said, for all I know it's a false positive (since they do happen).
Ultimately I decided to play it safe and just skip the game. Only 2 days ago I my Twitter was hacked and permanently banned (I have yet to hear back from them regarding the hack)! I think the cause was a similar zipfile I used containing similar files for a different game. As it was from ModDB I was lazy and didn't scan it first. After the problem came up I scanned it and got a similar Malware warning. Fortunately I'm not a big Twitter user.
If you want more assurance, please do not deprive yourself of playing your game, here is an article from GoG themselves. I just scanned with MWB as well, the file in question is dvm.dll, and has been an issue since the beginning withe being a false positive on AVs.

I was quite sceptical so downloaded it to a non networked little rig I have that has no useful information on it outside of my Steam client but that has 2FA in place, Copy/pasted it over the original Riddick Steam Win32_x86 folder and hey presto it works, If you're still not sure though Amazon sell the digital copy for $20 but you will have to use their launcher.
