(my) TAGES issue, SOLVED.

I had this game earlier in Windows 7 Pro/64, no problems.
Now in W10 I cannot run the game.

I tried some methods to solve this "issue", nothing helped me. Only this:

0. Install new Tages from: http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm?page=5.5.htm
1. Download game from Steam (not install, not run!)
2. Close Steam
3. Set: open Steam as administrator
4. Run game (install DirectX, type s/n)
(...Tages communicates with the serversgame...)
5. Close game, set: open Steam "normal"
6. Run game...

No manipulation with any files (GOG, cra*k, Tages) needed.

Perhaps it will help someone :-)

Only to find out you can't activate the game at all. Steam should fix this rather than leave you with a product you can no longer use after buying.

I would settle for a remake of this game. I would buy it again, as it was a great game. I'm guessing it is too masculine for our current society though.

Hi, I don't understand point 1. Steam download and install the game at the same time, right?
Point 4, "type s/n"(?) what does it mean? I have the problem, that the game won't laod, its just stop there.

Point 4. I think mean: Type 'serial number' (s/n = serial number), i.e. the game serial that Steam show at installation. This serial must be used to activate game. But all this dont work now, also doing point 0.

He just means do not run the game. The first time you run the game completes the installation process.

A few years ago, downloading the game and installing the game were separate. The complete installation (DirectX etc) was only done on first boot - that's why it's described like this.

Could always get it to work on Windows 10.

Upgraded to Windows 11 and now I just get errors when trying to install Tages drivers.

Big bummer :(

Doesn't Activision own the rights to this game now, after they bought out Vivendi? I guess we know why this game was never fixed. Pretty typical from the trash publisher Activision. Maybe now that Microsoft bought them we'll have a chance at this game getting fixed.
