(my) TAGES issue, SOLVED.

I had this game earlier in Windows 7 Pro/64, no problems.
Now in W10 I cannot run the game.

I tried some methods to solve this "issue", nothing helped me. Only this:

0. Install new Tages from: http://www.tagesprotection.com/main.htm?page=5.5.htm
1. Download game from Steam (not install, not run!)
2. Close Steam
3. Set: open Steam as administrator
4. Run game (install DirectX, type s/n)
(...Tages communicates with the serversgame...)
5. Close game, set: open Steam "normal"
6. Run game...

No manipulation with any files (GOG, cra*k, Tages) needed.

Perhaps it will help someone :-)

Hey dude, that worked for me.

I'll just add, that I had already downloaded and run the game, thats how I found myself here. But upon quitting, downloading tages64 from that site, running it, running steam in admin, and then activating through that, it worked.

However, proof positive that DRM is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Bought this game on launch, buy all their games, but got damn is this hindsight for why DRM sucks so much.

After reinstalling the new Tages, I get a different error when the install tries to communicate with it. Unexpected error 6. "The activation process cannt be completed, an error (13:5) has occured while saving the necessary data."

Any ideas?

Getting the same thing. Tried doing the Tages thing, but it didn't work. Then there was a box that allowed me to put in the activation code manually. I put in the code, then waited. All it got to was "gathering data" or something like that, and it just stayed there.

Agreed! Purchased this in 2011. Can't launch it now because it won't activate! Just keep getting This site can’t be reached, or ERROR 6 when trying to activate. Total scam when you pay for something and they rip it right out from under you. Theft. I still can't get it running. Total BS.

Doing that it the whole point of Digital Restrictions Management. The pirated Version rarely comes with it so who else could it block from the Game if not paying customers. You're supposed to buy the new stuff not play the old games again.

NO, i played like 30mins before today so No it isn't fair to lock me out because of DRM.
Happily i had no issue loading the game to play.

Broken for me. I even managed to generate 13:5, 13:6, error 6 and gathering data dead ends. Tried to send a ticket to steam and received we do not support games not developed by Valve/there is no error of the game robo-responses.

Absolute rubbish I think. Pretty disgusting that the only guaranteed fix is to purchase at a competing distribution site (GOG) or use potentially malicious cracks/piracy.

Moments like these make me dream of torrents and the ease of GOG.
