Is it possible to resonate with more players?

Dear developers,

Young Souls seems to be an awesome game so far and I am eager to see, hear and know more about it.

I would like to know if it were possible to have the possibilities to have characters of different phenotype. I mean, the game and story looks awesome and if it is an original creation, it might be interesting to have characters who resonates with players all around the world.

I know that is a very sensitive topic and a real challenge to implement nowadays without fearing backlash.

All the best for the development and hope to play Young Souls soon.

what the hell are you talking about ? the game has it's chosen characters , a story about those specific characters it's not a rogue like where you can create your own

We're really happy to know that you're very interested in Young Souls!

Sadly, there is no feature that allows you to create characters of different phenotypes.

We will probably write a Steam News to develop what Young Souls is exactly so maybe it will be easier to understand what the scenario is and what the characters (main characters, allies, enemies, etc.) will look like.

We understand that having characters who resonate with players all around the world would be great but in terms of development, it would be quite complicated since we're at an advanced stage.

really dude, this isn't an open world RPG for you to customise your character, it has a built in main characters and that's it, not all games need to give you the ability to change the appearance of your character

So I asked politely the developers something. They answered me politely as well. And as civil and smart people they understood why I could ask such a question and myself I understood perfectly their answer.

That's all folks. I did not ask for a boycott of the game or launched any attack on the game or developers.

Now, if the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Brigades would leave it at that, it would be fine.

if you made a thread like this about 10 years ago, then there would be no harsh reactions

but we're living through a time when "Diversity"(TM) is being demanded in every single piece of media, and no matter how much the artists pander it's never enough.
added a woman protag? -> you're racist because you didnt make her black
added a black woman protag? -> your homophobic because you didn't make her lesbian
added a lesbian woman protag? -> you're a transphobe because you didnt make her a transgender.

one of the selling points of all these wannabe journalists that gaming is a sexist, racist, facsist hobby because there is not enough "Diversity"(TM) in lots of games and absolute scumbags and con artists like Anita Sarkisian made very profitable careers preaching this BS.

and that's the current climate of art critique. not accusing you of it but most people are sick to death of it, so they will lash out at anyone that even vaguely hints that you might be part of this forced "Diversity"(TM) crowd.

If my questions is a problem. It has more to do with the fragility of some players than forced diversity or other anti-SJW BS.

Like yourself, I feel the weariness of many players with people going full SJW / White Knights on some platforms (e.g. Twitter). Especially when it is not relevant. Yet, I am sure you understand that those issues had to be addressed anyway and that sometimes, it was on point.

On my part: It is just fun when in a game you can see people that represents you in cool light, even better when you can play them. Isn't a big part of the success of some fighting games, beat them up or RPG to have great characters of all ethnic, gender, religion or sexual orientations ?

No political agenda there! I would even say that actually, an humanist would find that borderline business oriented.
