It is supported. Im using it
This yeh
Buy the bluetooth dongle and you can use this controller on your Genesis/Megadrive mini!
We should be supporting every controller that Steam is supporting, and can't do much more as we're directly using their tech. If you go in:
Steam Library>SoR4>Settings/Manage>Properties>
you can change the Steam Input Per-Games Setting. It helped some people to get their controller working.
If someone finds a workaround to make all the controllers work (including the obvious Genesis Mini) we'll do our best to spread the news!
It would be sweet if along the other button layouts that you can select in SOR4 "Xbox 360, PS4, Switch" you could add Sega Mega Drive Genesis / Saturn buttons. So we could see the Sega retro button prompts =). It would add value to retro gamers.
Note: I use my Saturn + USB Adapter using Big Picture mode and It works.
But then, green-yellow-blue buttons like Retro-Bit's controller (more readable) or all dark-gray (more authentic)?
In any case, I'd have to get one first, at least to make sure the C button gets mapped to C :)
But thinking here, as an UX Designer myself, probably you should take the USABILITY route and go for colored ones. Or maybe a mix.. the background button is grey but the typography is colored. You should test it. =)
BTW I just ordered my Retro-Bit 2.4ghz Crystal blue controller (Mega Drive Genesis).

The start button could be blue like the japanese controllers
Mega Drive Genesis buttons (3 buttons):

Or actually, the real question is: which controller is actually used? cuz the real issue is when you look at your controller and then on the screen and it's different and then you're confused. And if everyone is playing with THE RetroBit model with colored buttons (there's just one!) it's not the same as if everyone is playing with their original 25+ years old controller through an adapter.
In any case, fun discussion. Gotta get back to the obscure crashes now!
