Check that out for more details.
Quite frankly I didn´t got the news, if I had know probably would have bought the games I still missed from the collection. I can only hope this moves has something to do with them releasing new versions or a new emulator or just anything related to not just deleting the games from steam and be done with it.
Art, in all forms, should be preserved. And we already know how they messed that up with movies, music and TV shows. At least one would expect a digital product would be easier to maintain for prosperity, but in this case it just seems it´s the developers themselves who just don´t care for preservation, they only care for the IPs when they can exploide them. Trully sad cause I though Sega was on a good path to redemption, misplaced trust on my part I guess.
It is funny how people only care about something when it is taken away from them. If you wanted it, you had years to buy it, but ignored it.
Do you also complain about car manufacturers when they stop production on the current year car to release the next year's updated model?
How about a grocery store when they stop selling that 1 item you like to buy all the time because literally no one else but you was buying it?
To go more extreme, how about when someone has an old tattoo removed that they no longer want anymore? Should they just have their skin peeled off to get framed somewhere instead?
First, just because they de-list, does not mean they are wiping it out of existence. It is simply no longer for sale. They are not going to reclaim all the purchases made by those that actually bought it, nevermind all the other versions of this particular product sold on various other platforms.
And second, preservation in all forms, costs money. Putting aside any Steam fees, devs need to provide support in updates to keep a product relevant with newer technology, less it begins to fail. In this particular case, Sega Classics collection is 14 yrs old, it is long over due for an update. How long do you think before the app breaks and users start review bombing that it no longer works and demand it to be de-listed to prevent more people wasting money on it like so many other no longer updated apps?
As you compare it to art, even museums cycle their displays, putting items back into storage to make room for others. Usually to keep the displays fresh for repeat visitors, but also to do maintenance when an item starts showing its' age.
I am as disappointed as the next person, but what it comes down to is that it is their product to do with as they please and this is a business, not a museum.
Chances are, they will just repackage it in another year or 2 for people to buy all over again for newer systems, assuming they do not already have something in place for that. Much like the car manufacturers.
What´s funny about this statement is that I actually own it, and I want more people to be able to enjoy them as a fan of the series
Next time you acuse someone of anything I recomend checking their open profiles to see if they own the games you claim they don´t LMAO, get back to bed kid.
It is a collection of games, not just one. Looking at the profile means nothing in this case as it does not also show the DLC. Your statement here literally states you are missing some of it.
Perhaps you should practice what you preach of paying more attention.
Street of rage thread captain.
And still nobody cares about your rant.
Clearly you do or you would not have responded.
I have it on steam, played it maybe 2 times.
I have the OG BKII cart for collection.
I have the Flash card to play it on my Genesis model 1, it ruins my eyes so i played it maybe 2-3 times.
My free Rom played on emulator/FC2 ? well, i must be at 10.000hours solo and on fc2 multi 400hours for the trilogy. This is the only way to play the games.
Why play the inferior and insulting steam version that has a 15 years outdated emulator riddled with sound issues, glitches and run like crap ?
I'm glad they get that out.
Also what glitches and sound issues?
To be honest as good as SoR:R is I think that I'd still prefer the more authentic SoR 2 but with romhacks.
