How to unlock the new hidden Roo character.

I thought this was a joke, but it is not. You can unlock Roo by doing some pretty old school Sega inputs.

How to unlock Roo. DLC IS REQUIRED.

• Hover over the Story mode at the main menu
  
• Hold up and X (Square if PS controller)
  
• Press start
  
• Let go
  
• Roo should now be unlocked in the character selection. Enjoy!

IMPORTANT NOTE

You MUST complete a stage. any stage, with him for him to become permanent. If not, you must do this every time you boot up the game for Roo to appear. So be sure to play through the first level of story to get a rating on the level for him to stay.

Arrow Key up, D(whatever the attack button is), and the start button/pause button.

It works. And the hidden achievement is for using Roo's Star move many times in succession (i used it 4 times and got it).

For those who can't get it working, the cheat ignores input remapping. So use whatever is the default attack button - on the Xbox pad it's up + X. You know you got the right button if pressing UP will stop cycling through the options up and down. You'll get a long random sound effect if you can get it working.

3 times is all you need. You can use retry, select assist for 3 stars and just use them right at the beginning of any stage. Fast and easy.

Incorrect. You have to clear at least one stage (or survival attempt) with Roo so they have high score data in your save. Then Roo will be available on every subsequent load. (At least with the GOG version).

Thanks for specifying this, it helped me figure out what key they're asking for as a keyboard user. For other keyboard players who see this, the code works by holding Up+F1 and hitting Escape.

No, it comes with is own move set. The only weird thing is it has Skate's voice though. His ultimate summons an ally to fight with you as well.
