How does V4 make more sense than V7 though?
And when you're done, copy the V7 folder as is somewhere so you can restore it after any update manually.
Idk about pirating V7 though, but if it works, I doubt it would allow you to play online, which sucks.
I think online works as long as all the players have the same version, since it's p2p. My scores still seem to be submitting despite being V7 scores. If not, there's always remote play which isn't too much different for input latency than normal online play. It's actually a bit better for a couple of my friends.
As for pirating, that could work, but if you were like me - you knew V8 was around the corner and worried the patch would make it less enjoyable, and thus simply copy pasted the game folder to revert after.
