Can I skip story mode?

I want to just go straight to arcade mode, please, so I can play the way I prefer.
I don't want to have see the whole game first beforehand.

I don't think that's possible unless you cheat or get someone's save file or something

just play easy and with floyd or cherry.

the story isn't that long, you can skip through the short cutscenes as well.

Arcade mode is essentially a one credit survival mode.
Story mode is what you would normally call arcade mode and the story can be skipped by pressing Y.

Story? LMAO. This game do not have Story, just lazy Artworks with bad quality. I was hoping for a good Story from SOR4 explaining why Axel looks like a old dwarf guy whats happened to him and all others characters like Zan,Sammy, etc. But the game just throw you in the streets and do not explain a thing. Just a dumb lazy artwork through the stages with a dumb ending.

The character info in the Extras on the main menu gives backstory. Not much, but it is there.
