IMO it fits perfectly.
I have never seen a streets of rage game that looked like a cartoon. This new cartoonish art style is an abomination and out of place for the SoR series imo. The backgrounds look nice it's just the characters that look cartoonish.
hey duke whats up
i had the same opinion about wonder boy untill i played it. believe me sometimes opinion based on looks is decieving
at the end of the day its streets of rage man and not a bad one either

If they got rid of the cartoonish thick black outlines the character art style would look much better and similar to the realistic sprite style of the original sor games.
i agreed with some things of yours. but your overthinking it to an extend where you look for negativity in everything. thats totally unnecessary. u will miss out on a great game
friendly ment
Hell, if I could choose I would go with the method used in Gran Blue Versus or Guilty Gear as Arksys are amazing at creating 2.5D. We have to prove to Sega that the series needs a bigger budget if they ever do a new one which is why sales numbers count.
id choose kof style as well
but i mean the game is here and it doesnt look bad either so why not enjoy it
Yezzir. I'm just a big SoR fan so I will take what I can get and what I got is better than what I would have expected. See: Sonic 4 and Double Dragon IV. Those games were horrible lol.
i hope that your dreams will come true and that perhaps they will upscale the existing pixelated cast. i truly do. it would look nice
That said, I really do wish they stuck with pixel art, sonic mania did a fantastic job in that regard.. Or even better let us switch between old and new graphics on the press of a button.
I get what you're saying OP but at the same time I still think the art style looks great even if it is different, they've clearly put a lot of details into the backgrounds, the animations and so forth, looks nice imo
