Is there plans for this to be available on Linux or at the very least tested to run via Proton?

At the moment, there's probably not going to be a Linux version - I'm unfamiliar with the platform and have no way to test on a Linux device. After the full release there might be, but I can't promise anything, sorry.

You can just compile your sourcecode against Linux libraries.
Watch a Youtube tutorial about the 'make' command and the settings in the 'Makefile'
This will take you a few nights to get right.

It takes 10 min to install Linux-Mint from van ISO on an USB stick on an old laptop.
The commands above can be used in a shell; use the keys "ctrl alt t" for a shell.

Mint or any other ISO is free to download.
