Packaging machine: If I assign an order reader to packaging machine to perform 1x, it doesnt belt the item through.

On the level Pier Pressure, I just realized I can use the "perform action 1x" on the packaging machine. However when I do this, it wont belt the item OUT of the packaging machine, is this intentional? The ingredients is just stuck inside the machine.

The item to be packaged is 1x fries.
On a separate packager with its own order reader is 2x Fried Chicken. First chicken goes through, second does not, it just stays in the middle of the packager.

Still, just for the info, unless your setup specifically depends on stocking ingredients inside PM, there is no advantages in controlling it through order reader. As far as I remember, PM spends energy only while doing actual packaging (same way as Assemblers), so there's not many reasons to keep it turned off.

Ive always treated packagers as "always on" like grills so i needed to control it, good to know.

Do food processors work the same?

No, food processors always consume energy while on, so it might worth it to keep them off if you have some order reader outputs to spare.
