Semi-Auto or Manual?
Do all the top guys use a manual gearbox? Is using the semi-auto and controlling only your down shifts good enough or do you need to be able to control your up shifts as well in order to get the most out of it? Trying to decide if it's worth the time to get used to controlling both up and down shifts, rather than just down shifts.

Like you, semi-auto just for down shift and control the rear slide but sometime you and the game down shift in same time and you crash. It could be cool to choose a special semi-auto

Manual gearbox is way more effective, once you get use to it you are much faster than with semi auto
It's worth the time, don't worry

A little exemple : sometimes to avoid wheeling you will want to upshift very early, which you can't do on semi auto obviously, and the difference between wheeling and no wheeling on corner exit is HUGE !

Another is to avoid upshifts during the exit of the corners which can cause some instability or sometimes upshifting early can keep things simple. A good example of this could be the exit of turn 2 and through turn 3 at Jerez a short shift up to 3rd ....or 4th i forget... will allow you to keep the throttle fully open through turn 3 and with good selection of the gear ratios you wont loose any time and it allows you to focus 100% on the turning and the approach to turn 4....which if you're like me....helps.
