If exceeding track limit(s) at speed offers no penalty then frankly what's the point? At speed exceeding track limit(s) even slightly should carry an immediate penalty in terms of loss of grip and a high risk of losing control, front and rear. Just as in real life.
I hope that others who are amenable to Milestone's personal take on motogp enjoy the game but I'm out. And no I don't think anything will be different in respect of this particular and important aspect under the Pro Physics mode of the game. I am sure it will be no different to RIDE 3 in this, for me, crucial respect.

Hi again :)
Go to 15:20 Robo specifically deals with grippy grass. The build he played doesn't have this issue.
It's this video that's encouraged me to give this game a go. Hope this eases you mind :)

What Robo did not pick up upon in his preview video is the effect of leaning over without diminished grip whilst on the grass. What I think Robo talks about in his preview video is losing the rear whilst hard on the throttle on touching the grass.. Two different things.
What I wish to get to the bottom of with this is whether exceeding track limit(s), even slightly. results in a realistic response in terms of tyre grip and the handling / stability (due to tyre slip) of the bike.. No previous modern era Milestone motogp game on Pro Physics has been realistic in this respect. Exceeding track limits at speed should be a treacherous affair..just like in real life on a racetrack. For example in RIDE 3 on Pro Physics a method that people use to squeeze out a faster lap time is to put their tyres slightly over track limits to gain a faster line through a bend. I've done it myself just to see if it's possible.. And yes it works. Without quite often the penalty system being activated. This is not realistic. For many of us over the years this aspect of Milestone's games has become very frustrating and annoying because it detracts from the realism of the game.. For those of us who prefer to race on Pro Physics, without AIDS and with as much realism in the physics as possible this effect makes these games feel "arcade".
This is a quite "game changer" for me and a number of others I have spoken with over recent weeks. It's something we've been talking about for years..
Here's a video I posted on my channel a while back to show the effect we achieved by significantly reducing the tyre grip level(s) of the bikes whilst the bikes were passing across the grass having left track limit(s). Dyego and myself worked on this aspect as a further (albeit small in terms of the work it entailed) enhancement to the "Real Challenge Physics mod" for both motogp 17 and RIDE 2.
Hopefully this will explain visually what I am talking about here.. This may seem pedantic but for many of us this is an important matter for realism in the game. At present we have to artificially rely upon the penalty system rather than realistic physics to keep track cutting, even small track cuts, at bay for online racing.. Plus also for the offline it would be nice, in Pro Physics, to have this effect coded into the game. That's assuming, of course that motogp 19 is no different from RIDE 3 in this respect..

Well you certainly got your point across more briefly than I did.. ;)
(sorry guys but I have lived with a few years of frustration with this one.. Milestone, at times, can be frustrating to have to live with. With just a little more effort and a little more listening on their part things could be different)
I keep my fingers crossed for everyone on motogp 19.
At least in regards to the issue bothering you, I don`t see why this has to be a battle.
If I am not mistaken Ride3 already has a "off-track aid"-setting, it just doesn`t seem to do much.
Saleability doesn`t suffer from having options for more realism, on the contrary, they would just widen the audience.
As much as I love Milestone games, I`ll never understand why they put tons of work into some features, and then go on ignoring stuff that would probably take no more than a day to code but make a lot of customers happy.
So true. This should not have to be a battle every time with Milestone..
I ran an exercise from 2013 through to 2015 whereby a number of us were in constant contact, on a monthly basis, with the Milestone Development team. The exercise was to put forward suggestions for improvements to the motogp games. A few good things came out of it.. a working penalty system in 2014. Which was then seemingly forgotten about and neglected in 2015.. Plus they picked up on our suggestion for ambient noise (crowd noise etc. in the game). Most of everything else by way of suggestions put forward by the online racing community for physics improvements and improvements to the online structure of the game were completely ignored. Our pleas for a working and functional tyre model included. The nature of the games became more "arcade" in Pro Physics mode and the online structure of the motogp and RIDE games became so neglected in their latest iterations on UE4 that no one could run online leagues reliably any longer..
It's a sad story of neglect and lack of cooperation on the part of Milestone.
I sincerely hope that Milestone have now woken up to the fact of where they went so wrong. The community deserves much better than it has been given over the years since 2013.
I hope motogp 19 changes all of that to everyone's benefit, not least of all to the benefit of Milestone's customers. Fingers crossed! ;)
As for the 2nd video in the first post, the player is running in Normal physics mode - if it changes anything. But ... if Robo46 says that the bike falls only when you accelerate and in all other conditions it does not fall then I know I will be disappointed with the MotoGP 19...
I really do not understand why Milestone didnt change the off track grip for more realistic...for all that years. I even installed SBK Generations to see if it was any different in the past but no..unfortunately now.
And... I must say that also in last GP Bikes beta the off track grip is higher :-( Going off track in most of the cases in real life means you fall. Period. If its not in the game then I will never ever be happy :-(
I mentioned to Robo about the off track grip and whether or not it is now treacherous to run your wheels over the track limit(s). Tbh all I got back was about his rear touching the grass when he was hard on the throttle. You and I and anyone who has raced in real life knows that that is not enough.. The grass and other elements of off track terrain MUST have the correct grip levels coded into them for any racing game that is worth its salt to be realistic. Otherwise the experience in and around the important element of track limits becomes too "arcade".
Look, I think I've said enough here..
Time will tell if Milestone have actually now addressed this particular issue when the game is released on the 6th of June. I hope I am proved to be wrong with my concerns in this.
The other thing which would be nice to see would be a selectable "full crash" option whereby you have to recover your bike after a crash, to run as a selectable option alongside an "arcade" instant respawn option. Similar to what was coded into SBK 2000 and SBK 2001 by Milestone themselves back in the day.. That would also add, as an option, some much needed realism to these games. That would be an interesting option for online racing. In online league races I regularly saw players crash in front of me from close range and instantly respawn before I could overtake them through the next section of track.. Literally an INSTANT respawn. That too could be improved imho.
Enough from me already..! ;)
Also there is one more thing I worry about - even if some elements of the physics will be fine, they will tune it down so kids could handle pro physics 😟
Anyway everything was said. Enough talking. We wait now for 6th june...
I think they're more talking about other people cutting the grass in multiplayer.
Thanks Hiten for explaining it to Desperado. I am tired of talking and explaining everything to this guy.
