Freighter Fleet

Hi,

I've researched Asteroid Mining and the free Freighter fleet is nowhere to be seen.
Any ideas? I expected it to be stationed at my home planet upon researching.

Hi Warsmith, thanks for the question.

Freighter fleets do not appear on the galaxy map like other ships do. They are a resource you use when performing certain tasks such as production asteroid exploitation, volatiles asteroid exploitation, and pop migration.

On the top of the screen you will find an icon indicating how many freighter fleets you current have, how many are available, and how many are assigned. This is on the right side of the bar outlining your economy. There is also a button here to scrap unused freighters if you choose as they do use some SSP (Ship Support Points).

How do we actually "Exploit" the asteroids. I unlocked the tech, have the asteroids nearby and the frieghter. now what? How do I actually manage them

Have you built an outpost on the asteroid belt using an outpost ship yet? You'll need to do that before you can exploit the asteroid.

Once you build the outpost a box will appear near it which asks you to select an exploit type. If you pick production it requires an available freighter and asks you to select where to send the exploit output to.

For a free outpost ship, consider researching improved logistics.

For 2 free outpost ships and faster outpost ship construction, check your space culture options for one in the Wealth tree called "Space Rush".
