Core miners touching tips
Hey guys,

one of my core miners is blocked.
There is even an error message for this:

If you invastigate further you see that the drills meet each other in the minable part of the ore vein.

That's a pretty poor design choice don't you think?

What I am wondering about is that I thought vein mining was infinite as long as you supply it with fracking liquid.
But the drill removes a pretty substantial amount of the minable ore inside the veins.

...interesting to look inside, that's some effort for a part almost nobody sees.

Wait you have 2 miners on one drill point? That’s the problem, usually they spawn in a way to prevent that…. But in your case that didn’t happen…
1 miner per drill point.

The miner drills until it hits the core without fracking liquid, which is a good ways in.

If you played the twitch.io version, there was underground mining with track and cars. You had to feed track so cars could go further and further to get the ore, bring it back to the hub then you used elevators to get it to the surface. I loved that version. Not really impressed with the whole "vein" scenario.

I reported this bug in-game (f9) I'd suggest you do the same. It's rare, I've only seen it once on a Telluxite node, and never again (and I've fracked probably 50-60 underground veins all points)...but it is annoying when it happens. I think it's a bug in the vein generation, the "core" probably shouldn't have multiple entry points to the same block...but also they could just remove that check on the core blocks and not allow one miner to "lock" it.

It's different drill points that eventually reach the same "core" blocks...seems like a bug in the vein generation.

That is called docking.

Always thought the core is a rectangle / cuboid on each drilling level height so touching should be auto excluded by that design. Seems that is not the case.
So I wonder what is the core geometrie?

I think it's just a 2x2 pillar that runs through the vein, but is only accessible via the randomly generated points.
