Why isn't my boiler taking in water?
I've built a foundation over the water and placed a boiler on it. The boiler is fueled. I've run an intake pipe from under water to one of the boiler's two input/output ports. I've built the steam turbine and connected the steam output of the boiler to the steam input of the boiler. I've built power lines connecting the steam turbine to a transformer that's on my main base's foundation. I built a biomass generator and fueled it up in case the boiler needed power.

The pipes, they are empty. I've removed them and rebuilt them. No joy. I've removed and rebuilt the boiler. Again, nothing. The pipes are empty.

What on earth could I be doing wrong?

only one of the inputs takes the water so are you sure you're on the right one?

The water intake, is probably facing the wrong way, remove it and make sure the arrow is facing to the pipe.

There is no "arrow facing to the pipe" when there's a bidirectional input.

When I'm placing pipe that connects to the boiler, it's displaying a green cube at the end of the pipe. According to the help, this means that I'm connecting the pipe to a bidirectional port. The port itself is labelled "Water (input/output), with yellow and red arrows on the sign. There are two such ports on the boiler, on opposite signs.

If I'm supposed to remove this intake and turn it around, I sure can't see how to do it, Certainly no other block in the game has something you can remove. The help is silent on changing the intake on machines that you connect pipes to.

This thing is the water intake, not the input on the the boiler.

The green arrow goes into the pipe, people sometimes don't see the arrow, thus it is facing the wrong way.

unless you didn't know about the intake being a separate item...

I had no idea such a thing existed. Small wonder I'm having so much trouble. I feel like the "Pipes and Liquids" help should _maybe_ tell you that there's a specific component you need in addition to the pipes that it tells you about. It doesn't mention the need for an intake at all.

It does, you just didn't understand what it was Saying.
The 2nd line:
"You will need a Pipe Intake to Draw in Water"
Pipe Intake is the name of said component

Thanks, it was right next to the pipe in my inventory.
