Greenhouse madness
So a greenhouse produces 1 biomass per minute (2/m but it consumes 1/m). one Biomass has 5MJ, a boiler consumes 3.6MJ/s, 216MJ per minute.... So i would need about 44 greenhouses to supply ONE bioler constantly.... Nice.
My home Ignium patch is about to deplete and the next closest one is 500m under a river....
I was hoping to make a renewable power source for the boilers, but i aint building 44 greenhouses for each boiler wtf!
This needs to be tweaked....

The research for biomass farming specifically says its a loss and you will never make more energy than you spend...unless you power greenhouses with solar on a separate grid

Best get on that 500m one, then.

If you want renewable, solar+batteries is the answer.
Pretty sure the greenhouse is there for automating explosives, and seed making, not for power.

better way to automate explosives later, ignium powder and fake oil
500 metres away is nothing. Grab a few stacks of blocks and belts and get building.
I don't understand how even so many people tought that that is possible at all.. like it's a greenhouse.. you can't just expect few cheap buildings to replace basicly core finite early-mid game fuel resource.. That is a true madness.

probably used to games like Evospace or modded Minecraft or some Factorio mods where wood can be cheaply and easily farmed early game and converted to charcoal for power production

I'm more annoyed by the complete inability of people to read and process the information the game gives you. It straight up tells you that greenhouses are a net negative for energy production and more or less directly tells you extremely early on that you should be automating power through ignium. And it's like the third and fourth researches that you can unlock after the absolute basic Baby's First Factory stuff like assemblers.

It's easy to hand craft the science to unlock ignium and burner generators and get that automated before anything else, save for a 4stack of smelters for each ore type to feed the hand crafting.

Don't need to mine more than 500ish biomass in total until it's needed for explosives or whatnot.

Hmm, yea I wouldn't try to use the greenhouse for power lol...or really, for anything. I made explosives by hand (I had tons of bio in chests in case I needed it later) until the second recipe that didn't require bio was available. I'm also a bit unclear how people are running out of Ignium so quickly...unless maybe they're small patches or you're using it for fuel + steel + maybe other things? Like already said, 500m is nothing, I'd definitely go out and tap that asap, maybe even the next two nearest ones...as the one I used for fuel I didn't use for anything else, and it lasted until I was on solar. I ran 15 turbines on that thing for many hours without the Ignium running out.

My ignium patch still has more than half remaining with 10 turbines and I'm 15+ hours in. I haven't used it for anything except power, though; got lucky with XF and Ignium patches fairly near each other and did a dedicated production area before bringing it back.
Too much asking for a viable renewable power resource i suppose. 🤷‍♂️

What part of solar panels and batteries don't you understand?
I mean I enjoy going out 2000 blocks digging holes and getting more resources it’s fun. It reminds me of Minecraft. I mean I guess what I’m really saying is why people so against moving away from bases and bringing stuff to your base? Finite resources is what makes this game fun. I guess I’m just weird.
The world is endless, and so is the resources. You just gotta go get em.

On several different maps (seeds) I've played, I have actually found traveling 2km-3km out from the landing spot a lot of times has large patches of multiple resources close together, so first thing I do now is a massive walk-about to see what is out there and then determine the best place to set up home base.
